We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer / Project Manager to support and maintain critical infrastructure environments. This role combines hands-on infrastructure engineering, project ownership, operational coordination, and technical leadership.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise across Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, AWS, patch management, and vulnerability remediation, along with the organizational skills needed to manage projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, track deliverables, and communicate status effectively.
This position requires a highly accountable professional who can serve as a trusted technical resource, take ownership of critical work, and provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and newer environments.
- Manage user access, network interface configuration, operating system settings, and server-related issues.
- Administer Active Directory, including:
- User and access management
- Group Policy Object (GPO) creation and implementation
- Trust relationship configuration
- Domain controller promotion and demotion
- Design and implementation of new Active Directory environments
- Support Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu environments, including core operating system administration, command-line operations, and basic shell scripting.
- Support and maintain infrastructure hosted in AWS environments.
- Manage operating system patching activities using enterprise patch management tools, including deployment group creation, scheduling, deployment, and validation.
- Conduct vulnerability scanning and remediation activities using platforms such as Rapid7.
- Analyze vulnerability scan results, identify remediation requirements, and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate technical teams.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, action items, and deliverables.
- Create and present Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) and provide regular project status updates.
- Coordinate meetings and work across infrastructure, security, application, and other technical teams to ensure timely completion of activities.
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and potential delays and escalate issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure, projects, remediation activities, hardware, and software.
- Develop and maintain tracking tools and reports using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, calculations, data comparisons, spreadsheet consolidation, and project trackers.
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact for assigned infrastructure environments and coordinate issue resolution across multiple teams.
- Monitor and maintain infrastructure environments to support availability, security, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Continuously learn new technologies and develop an understanding of the broader business and operational environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019 or newer.
- Advanced experience with Active Directory administration and architecture.
- Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu.
- Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and services.
- Experience with enterprise patch management and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience with tools such as Ivanti and Rapid7 or comparable platforms.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, milestone tracking, execution, risk management, and status reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas/calculations, data comparison, and tracker development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and understand complex technical environments.
- Experience providing technical leadership, coaching, or mentorship to other team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Experience coordinating infrastructure projects involving multiple technical teams.
- Experience with infrastructure security, vulnerability management, and compliance activities.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and enterprise data center operations.
- Experience developing technical documentation, operational procedures, and project reporting.
- Relevant technical certifications in Microsoft, AWS, Linux, IT infrastructure, or project management are a plus.
