DXC Technology is an American information technology services company formed in 2017 by merging Computer Sciences Corporation with the enterprise services division of Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It runs and modernises the IT estates of large organisations, covering cloud and infrastructure operations, application management, security services, and industry software for insurance, banking and healthcare clients across some seventy countries. Headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the company has spent recent years shrinking legacy outsourcing revenue while trying to grow consulting and engineering work.

Job Description:

Junior NOC Engineer

Location: Hampshire

(shift-based, including a 24x7 rota)

DXC Technology is committed to building diverse, inclusive teams. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly encourage interest from women, underrepresented groups, and neurodivergent candidates. We offer reasonable adjustments throughout the hiring process and are dedicated to creating a supportive, accessible environment for everyone.

Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must hold active DV security clearance and be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.

As a Junior Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer, you will provide first and second-line monitoring and initial-response support across DXC's managed-service customer environments. Working with experienced NOC engineers, you will monitor network health, triage alerts, log and progress incidents, complete routine operational checks, carry out basic troubleshooting, and escalate more complex issues in line with agreed service levels and ITIL processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network performance, availability and alerts across the managed estate.
  • Triage network events and complete initial diagnosis of incidents.
  • Resolve routine issues and escalate complex incidents to Level 2 or Level 3 support.
  • Perform scheduled health checks, daily operational tasks and basic troubleshooting.
  • Create, update and track incidents and service requests using a service-management tool such as ServiceNow.
  • Keep customers and internal stakeholders informed through clear and timely ticket updates.
  • Follow DXC incident, change and problem-management processes, runbooks and security procedures.
  • Assist senior engineers with network changes, implementations, testing and routine maintenance.
  • Support basic configuration and physical activities, including staging and patching, where required.
  • Maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Develop technical and vendor skills through training and on-the-job learning.

What you'll bring:

  • Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, routing and switching concepts, DNS and DHCP.
  • Awareness of network monitoring, alert triage and troubleshooting principles.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, a service-management or ticketing platform such as ServiceNow.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to remain calm and methodical when responding to alerts and incidents.
  • Active DV security clearance.
  • A degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Networking, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 0-2 years of experience in network support, IT operations or a relevant technical environment. Graduates and early-career applicants are welcome.

Desirable Skills:

  • Exposure to Cisco, Aruba or Fortinet enterprise networking technologies.
  • Awareness of ITIL practices, firewall concepts and wireless LAN technologies.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure networking, Linux or Microsoft Visio.
  • An entry-level certification such as Cisco CCNA, Aruba Associate or ITIL Foundation

At DXC Technology, we believe strong connections and community are key to our success. Our work model prioritizes in-person collaboration while offering flexibility to support wellbeing, productivity, individual work styles, and life circumstances. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Recruitment fraud is a scheme in which fictitious job opportunities are offered to job seekers typically through online services, such as false websites, or through unsolicited emails claiming to be from the company. These emails may request recipients to provide personal information or to make payments as part of their illegitimate recruiting process. DXC does not make offers of employment via social media networks and DXC never asks for any money or payments from applicants at any point in the recruitment process, nor ask a job seeker to purchase IT or other equipment on our behalf.
