Dyson is a technology company founded in 1991 by James Dyson after he built more than five thousand prototypes of a bagless vacuum cleaner that no established manufacturer would license. It applies high-speed digital motors and airflow engineering across vacuum cleaners, hair care products including the Supersonic and Airwrap, air purifiers, lighting and headphones, and sells almost entirely direct to consumers at premium prices. The company moved its head office from Wiltshire to Singapore in 2019 to sit closer to its Asian manufacturing and markets, remains privately held by the Dyson family, and funds an engineering university at its Malmesbury campus.

About Dyson

Dyson is a global technology company known for solving problems others ignore through engineering, science and innovation. Our Floorcare category plays a critical role in improving indoor environments through pioneering purification, humidification and air treatment technologies. As we continue to grow and evolve the category across Great Britain & Ireland, we are seeking an exceptional Senior Category Manager to define category strategy, drive commercial performance and deliver market-leading customer experiences.

The Role

The Senior Category Manager - Floorcare is responsible for leading the category strategy, commercial performance and market development of Dyson’s Floorcare portfolio across GB&I.

As Dyson’s largest category in GB&I and a significant driver of revenue, profitability and brand leadership, Floorcare sits at the heart of the business. This role combines strategic category leadership with strong commercial execution. The successful candidate will own the category P&L, shape long-term growth plans, identify market opportunities, and work cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class go-to-market plans, product launches and customer experiences.

As the category expert, you will provide thought leadership on market dynamics, consumer trends, competitor activity and retailer strategies while ensuring Dyson remains the category leader and innovation benchmark. You will also play a critical role in accelerating category growth through premiumisation, driving adoption of emerging segments such as Wet and Robot, and strengthening Dyson's market leadership across the Floorcare portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Leadership

  • Work alongside the Head of Category to develop and own the Floorcare category strategy across GB&I.
  • Create and execute short, medium and long-term growth plans aligned to Dyson’s business objectives.
  • Identify new opportunities for category expansion, penetration and premiumisation.
  • Lead annual and quarterly category planning processes.
  • Act as the category subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.

Commercial Performance

  • Deliver category revenue, profit and market share targets.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly business performance, identifying opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Build robust business cases to support investment decisions, strategic initiatives and product ranging.
  • Manage promotional and investment plans to maximise return on investment.

Product Lifecycle & Launch Excellence

  • Lead commercial planning for new product introductions and product transitions.
  • Partner with the Global Business Unit teams to localise and execute launch strategies.
  • Ensure successful end-to-end go-to-market execution across all channels.
  • Drive adoption of innovation and technology storytelling to maximise consumer engagement.

Consumer & Market Insight

  • Analyse market, consumer and retailer trends to identify growth opportunities.
  • Leverage market data, insight tools and customer feedback to inform decision making.
  • Monitor competitor activity and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Champion a consumer-first approach across all category initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Retail, Finance, Supply Chain, Direct-to-Consumer and Business Unit teams.
  • Align stakeholders around category priorities and growth opportunities.
  • Influence senior leadership through data-driven recommendations and strategic storytelling.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to improve category performance and customer experience.

Retail & Channel Development

  • Support channel strategies that accelerate category growth across both direct and indirect channels.
  • Partner with cross functional teams on category reviews, ranging and retailer-specific growth plans.
  • Drive excellence in merchandising, activation and category visibility.
  • Ensure consistency of category messaging across all customer touchpoints.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in Category Management, Commercial Strategy, Marketing or a related commercial discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute category growth strategies.
  • Advanced analytical capability and experience using market and performance data.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and storytelling skills.

Preferred

  • Experience launching innovative products to market.
  • Experience managing and developing team members.
  • Degree-level qualification in Business, Marketing, Economics or a related field.
