Dyson is a technology company founded in 1991 by James Dyson after he built more than five thousand prototypes of a bagless vacuum cleaner that no established manufacturer would license. It applies high-speed digital motors and airflow engineering across vacuum cleaners, hair care products including the Supersonic and Airwrap, air purifiers, lighting and headphones, and sells almost entirely direct to consumers at premium prices. The company moved its head office from Wiltshire to Singapore in 2019 to sit closer to its Asian manufacturing and markets, remains privately held by the Dyson family, and funds an engineering university at its Malmesbury campus.

Most creatives get handed a product and a deadline. Here, you get handed a lab pass.

We are looking for a Senior Creative to join the Dyson Creative Studio in London: an in-house department built to approach creativity in a way that does justice to our iconic products.

You’ll have the chance to sit next to the engineers and scientists inventing the technology, and the designers working on colours, materials and finishes. You will find the detail nobody else noticed and turn it into work the world remembers.

About the studio

The Dyson Creative Studio is based at Pear Tree Court in Clerkenwell, London, and led by Pablo González de la Peña, Global Head of Creative. It works alongside Dyson's product creative teams in Malmesbury, home of our UK headquarters, and at our global headquarters in Singapore.

We are a creative resource for the whole company, not just marketing. Our work can influence product creation, portfolio strategy and the way Dyson explains its technology to the world. We start at the very beginning, in the lab, so creativity is baked in from day one rather than added at the end.

In its first year, the studio has brought to life Dyson CameraJet, our biggest launch of the last decade, alongside Dyson HushJet MiniCool and Dyson Supersonic Travel. And with the pipeline of new technology coming, there is a lot more to do.

About the role

As a Senior Creative, you will lead ideas from the first spark in the lab to launch campaigns seen around the world. Your job is to make the invisible visible: to take complex science and turn it into ideas people understand, feel and remember.

You will join the UK creative team, reporting to the Head of Creative, and work every day with creative strategists, designers, producers and the engineers behind the products. Forget the endless layers of approval that slow work down and kill good ideas by a thousand cuts. Here, you will present your ideas directly to Dyson's leadership, including James and Jake Dyson.

What you'll do

  • Connect with engineering and research teams early in development, investigating everything they do to find the detail that could become a compelling story
  • Create big, ownable ideas for global product launches and brand campaigns, across film, social, OOH, retail, digital and whatever channel the idea needs
  • Apply creative thinking and lateral problem solving to real business challenges beyond marketing, from product naming and portfolio strategy to how we explain new technology
  • Present and sell work with confidence to senior stakeholders and Dyson's leadership
  • Partner with production to craft work to the highest standard, staying close to the details from idea to delivery
  • Collaborate with teams in Malmesbury and Singapore to bring ideas to life in markets around the world
  • Raise the creative bar of the studio and help shape its culture as it grows

About You

  • An outstanding creative thinker (copywriter or art director) with a portfolio of work that made people stop, think and talk
  • Senior experience at a leading creative agency or in house team, with a record of launching ideas at global scale
  • Endlessly curious about how things work. You would rather spend an afternoon in a lab than in a meeting room
  • Brilliant at simplifying the complex without dumbing it down
  • Comfortable working across disciplines and media, from a hero film to a single line of product copy
  • A natural collaborator who can hold a room, take a challenge and build on other people's ideas
  • Restless, ambitious, positive, resilient and allergic to the obvious answer

Awards are welcome but not required. We care most about ideas, craft and the thinking behind them.

The team you'll join

You will work alongside talent from some of the most respected agencies and brands in the world, including BBH, Wieden+Kennedy, adam&eve, BBC Creative, Accenture Song, Canva, Logitech, Converse and Beats by Dre.

Working side by side not only fuels our innovation, but also creates a strong sense of belonging. To nurture this dynamic and inclusive environment, we do not offer a regular hybrid working arrangement.

Dyson is an equal opportunity employer. We know that great minds don’t think alike, and it takes all kinds of minds to make our technology so unique. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and employment decisions are made without regard to race, colour, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, protected veteran status or other any other dimension of diversity.
