Program Manager - Software

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. Eaton India Innovation Center is currently seeking a Software Program Manager to join our team in Pune. This individual contributor will work in a matrix environment to lead software development activity supporting DCDC Converters, Transmission Control Units, Power Distribution and Protection Units and other related automotive EV products.

The primary role of Software Program Manager includes overseeing embedded software project development from start to finish to deliver software on time, of high quality, in compliance with industry standards such as ISO 26262, and in alignment with the hardware development schedules of the associated products. In a matrixed environment, this role will lead a program team of controls and software developers across the globe through clear and concise communication, goal setting and demonstrating good decision making amongst project ambiguity. Collaborating across time zones and engineering stakeholders to align program schedules and dependencies to create a master software plan. In addition, this role will be responsible for project proposal/timing estimations for new project or RFQ activity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, An MBA, advanced degree, or relevant project management certification is a plus.
• 10-12 years of Software industry experience with mix of engineering development and Program execution
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience supporting or providing project management within embedded software development-related projects.

Skills:

Required

• Exposure to embedded software development within the Automotive Industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with processes and tools for requirements management, change management, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with software test methodologies and tools and the development of test plans for embedded systems.
• Basic knowledge of functional safety and development processes compliant with safety standards (for example, ISO 26262 or IEC 61508).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of software quality assurance requirements (for example, Automotive SPICE) and their relationship to Quality Management System requirements (for example, IATF 16949) and external auditing processes.
