We are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer in Eaton’s Electrical business, based in Xi’an, China. This role will focus on embedded firmware development for power electronics products, including control logic, protection functions, communication interfaces, system integration, and issue troubleshooting across global product platforms. • Lead and contribute to embedded firmware design, development, debugging, validation, and maintenance for power electronics products.
• Develop and optimize firmware for DSP/MCU-based systems, including state machines, protection logic, fault management, and communication interfaces.
• Support firmware architecture design, module decomposition, coding, unit testing, integration testing, defect analysis, and release activities to ensure high-quality project delivery.
• Work closely with hardware and global team to define requirements, review designs, resolve technical risks, and support product development milestones.
• Perform system-level troubleshooting for lab, manufacturing, and field issues; analyze logs, waveforms, fault records, and test results to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Conduct design reviews and code reviews, provide technical guidance to junior engineers, and contribute to firmware best practices, reusable platforms, and knowledge accumulation.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, troubleshooting guides, and release notes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Engineering, Electronics, Communications, or a related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in firmware development in power electronics products such as UPS, inverter, rectifier, battery charger, energy storage, industrial power supply is highly preferred.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems, and hands-on experience with DSP/MCU platforms, preferably TI C2000, or similar embedded control platforms.
• Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals, such as three-phase systems, AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC conversion, DC bus, inverter, rectifier, battery charger, and closed-loop control, is preferred.
• Familiar with common communication protocols, such as CAN, Modbus, UART, RS232/RS485, I2C and SPI -based protocols.
• Proficient in using embedded development and debugging tools, such as IDE/compiler toolchains, JTAG/emulators, Git, oscilloscopes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues across firmware, hardware, control, and system integration domains.
• Good communication skills and the ability to discuss technical topics in English with global teams.
