The Assembly Technician is responsible for the precise assembly, wiring, and integration of electronic components and metallic cabinets used in Econolite’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) products. This role involves tasks such as cable routing, wire harnessing, hardware installation, and functional testing, with a focus on quality, safety, and adherence to documented procedures. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, is mechanically inclined, and has a strong attention to detail-especially when working with electrical parts.

DUTIES

• Build electrical parts, including wire harnesses, and route cables inside cabinets.
• Assemble metal cabinets according to work instructions and quality standards.
• Perform a range of assembly line tasks, from basic to detailed work, with care and accuracy.
• Follow all safety rules, work procedures, and company policies to maintain a safe, organized workplace.
• Inspect parts for defects and report issues promptly to support product quality.
• Assist with packing and labeling products as needed.
• Support other teams or departments when additional help is required.
• Maintain tools and store them properly.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
• Train on additional tasks or specialized assignments that require close attention to detail.
• Keeps a clean, organized work area in line with 5S and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2+ years of experience in electronic and mechanical product assembly preferred.
• Experience reading electronic schematics and wiring diagrams preferred.
• Technical training and IPC 620 certification preferred.
• Dexterity with hand tools, hand soldering equipment, and other standard electronic assembly tools.
• Able to read and follow written work instructions with strong attention to detail.
• Work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
• Basic computer skills including sending and receiving emails, data entry, and viewing work instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Stand, walk, squat, kneel, bend at the waist for extended periods of time.
• Handle small components and use hand tools effectively for extended periods.
• Perform repetitive tasks such as screwing, soldering, and wiring.
• Push, pull, carry, and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Work involves handling electrical components and following electrical safety procedures.

COMPENSATION

The base pay range for this full-time non-exempt position is $18.00 - $20.00 per hour plus benefits. Pay ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base pay rates for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
