DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented DevOps professional to join our team as a Cloud and Data Platform Engineer. In this role, you will work alongside traders, software developers, and quantitative analysts to build, optimise, and maintain the high-performance cloud infrastructure that powers our proprietary trading models. This position is critical for ensuring our trading systems operate with maximum reliability, minimal latency, and optimal cost efficiency in the fast- paced high-frequency trading environment. You will gain hands-on experience implementing and managing sophisticated cloud architectures that support algorithmic trading strategies, while continuously optimising infrastructure costs and performance to maintain our competitive edge in the market

Responsibilities:

• Implement spot instance fleet management with sophisticated fallback mechanisms to ensure trading continuity and data integrity.
• Develop comprehensive cost monitoring systems with automated alerting for budget thresholds while maintaining performance requirements for trading operations.
• Create and manage high-performance database interfaces and query optimisation systems for market data processing.
• Build real-time monitoring and visualisation dashboards to provide actionable insights for trading operations.
• Design and implement highly available, low-latency cloud architecture optimised for algorithmic and high-frequency trading systems.

Requirements:

• Experience in financial services or trading firms.
• Knowledge of market data infrastructure requirements.
• Familiarity with algorithmic trading systems and their infrastructure needs.
• Understanding of low-latency networking principles.
• Experience with GPU optimisation for financial modelling.
• Experience: 4+ years.

Cloud Infrastructure and Cost Optimisation:

• 3+ years managing production AWS/GCP infrastructure with demonstrated cost optimisation in high-performance environments.
• Advanced experience with EC2 spot instances/GCP preemptible VMs including: Implementation of spot fleet management with automatic bidding strategies for non-critical workloads, Development of instance interruption handlers and workload migration systems with minimal downtime, Creation of hybrid spot/on-demand architectures to balance cost and performance for trading systems.
• Expertise in AWS savings plans, reserved instances, and commitment utilisation optimisation.
• Experience implementing AWS Graviton/ARM instances for cost-performance optimisation.
• Proficiency with storage tiering strategies for market data archival and retrieval.

Programming and Automation:

Strong Python development skills including:

• Development with boto3/GCP Python client libraries.
• Experience with pandas/numpy for financial data processing.
• Automation using Python for market data ETL workflows.

Advanced Bash scripting for system automation, including:

• Resource monitoring and auto-remediation scripts.
• Custom log parsing for trading system analytics.
• Error handling and recovery procedures for trading infrastructure.

Database and Data Management

Experience administering and optimising:

• Time-series databases for market data storage.
• PostgreSQL/MySQL with query optimisation for trading applications.
• NoSQL databases with sharding configurations for high-throughput environments.
• Knowledge of database interface optimisation techniques for low-latency trading operations.

Monitoring and Visualisation:

• Advanced Grafana implementation for real-time trading system monitoring.
• Experience with Prometheus for metrics collection in high- frequency environments.
• Proficiency with ELK stack for log analysis and trading system diagnostics.

Containerization and Orchestration:

• Docker expertise including multi-stage builds and image optimisation for trading applications.
• Kubernetes experience with a focus on resource optimisation and low-latency configurations.
