The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn and be assessed in the language through courseware. Courseware is delivered online to students attending virtual schools and it is a textbook replacement that supports what the student learns from an ASL teacher.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong skills in teaching and assessing receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture
  • Fluent in ASL and proficient in written English
  • Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing
  • Ability to create video scripts for sign language videos
  • Skilled with creating engaging expressive and receptive activities to assess state curriculum and ACTFL standards effectively
  • Expertise in developing role-plays
  • Post-secondary ASL degree
  • Deadline-driven
  • Receptive to feedback
  • Can work remotely as part of a larger team
  • Open to using various tech applications - MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack
For the chosen candidate, this freelance role could consume more than 5 hours/week over the next 2 years and will be completed in 2028. As part of the hiring process, potential candidates may be invited to participate in a paid audition to demonstrate their writing skills.

Please include your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you are a good fit for this role. We appreciate all applications, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
