Lead Software Engineer

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team and help shape the technical foundation of Eightfold's core products. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys working on complex distributed systems, setting technical direction, and mentoring other engineers while remaining hands-on. You will lead the design and evolution of large-scale data platforms, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions that support millions of users globally.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale software platforms serving millions of users worldwide.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for the core data platform and related services.
• Own and drive key technical decisions, ensuring alignment across teams on design and implementation.
• Build and deploy microservices using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deliver high-performance, reliable, and scalable solutions using best-in-class technologies.
• Lead complex projects from design through production, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely delivery.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues within distributed systems environments.
• Support the deployment and operation of products across multiple environments.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Analytics, Marketing, and Business teams.

Requirements:

• Proven experience designing and delivering complex, high-performance distributed systems in production.
• Strong backend engineering experience with containerised services in real-world environments.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems design principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e. g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
• Proficiency using modern AI-assisted development tools (e. g., GenAI tools, Cursor, Claude).
• Ability to lead by example, mentor engineers, and raise overall engineering standards.
