We are looking for a Head of Science for an international K-12 school in Zhengzhou, Henan province. This position is available from the upcoming 2026-27 academic year in either February or March 2026.

About the role
The Head of Science leads the academic direction, curriculum quality, and faculty development of the Science department (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Integrated/General Science), ensuring strong student outcomes, high-quality practical learning, and continuous innovation.
- Lead Science departmental strategy aligned with global best practice and school priorities
- Chair Science-related academic committees to drive standards, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Oversee curriculum design, STEM/STEAM initiatives, assessment frameworks, and resource planning
- Establish teaching quality assurance through observation, coaching, moderation, and data analysis
- Lead faculty recruitment, evaluation, professional growth pathways, and succession planning for subject leaders
- Strengthen inquiry-based learning and practical science, including clear expectations for lab reports, investigations, and scientific writing
- Ensure laboratory safety and compliance, including risk assessments, lab routines, equipment maintenance, and student safety training
- Build systems to monitor student progress, analyze outcomes, and implement targeted academic support
- Manage departmental budgets, laboratory resources, and procurement planning in coordination with operations and facilities
- Encourage action research, conferences, inter-school exchanges, and teacher publication opportunities
- Engage parents and community partners through academic briefings, science showcases, and external networks
- Collaborate with pastoral, student services, and IT on whole-person development and effective use of digital learning tools
- Teach 4 to 8 periods per week and deliver model lessons when required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
- 3-5 years of subject teaching experience in Science
- Department leadership experience or demonstrated capacity to lead teams is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
