Database Engineer

Project information:

Location: 2 days per week in office, Stockholm

Work model: B2B, fulltime

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer consultant to support an Oracle to PostgreSQL migration project. The consultant will devote 80% of their time to direct migration activities and 20% to reviewing the existing setup and offering improvement recommendations.

Start Date: By October 1st

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and provide hands-on support for the end-to-end migration of Oracle database services to PostgreSQL, ensuring minimal disruption to the PAM platform.

• Serve as a liaison between Development Teams and the Database, translating application requirements into practical database solutions throughout the migration process.

• Review and validate database schemas, configurations, and application code alterations to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and compatibility.

• Document key learnings and best practices to facilitate future migrations.

Required Skills:

• Extensive experience as a PostgreSQL DBA or PostgreSQL developer.

• Familiarity with Oracle databases and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL datatype mappings.

• Hands-on experience executing PostgreSQL migration projects.

• Ability to operate independently within a defined migration framework.

• Strong collaboration abilities to work effectively with database and developer teams.

• Knowledge of Liquibase for schema versioning and migration.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Java applications utilizing PostgreSQL.

• Exposure to distributed systems and event-driven architectures, particularly with Kafka and/or Solace.

• Experience integrating AI agents and automation into development workflows (e.g., Cursor/Claude agent skills).

• Experience migrating high-traffic services while minimizing downtime.
