Operational / Site Reliability Engineer - Azure & Service Mesh | Brussels
A major Belgian enterprise is running a critical cloud migration and building out its Azure service mesh platform. They're looking for a hands-on engineer to operate, troubleshoot and automate it as part of a team of architects and system engineers.
This is a run-and-reliability role, not a build-features role: you'll be the 2nd line behind the platform, helping dev teams onboard to the mesh, debugging what breaks, and automating the setup so the ops team can take it over.
What you'll actually do:
Support dev teams integrating onto the Azure service mesh (setup, config, troubleshooting)
Act as 2nd line support on the middleware / file transfer / Event Hub stack on Azure
Debug issues using existing monitoring & logging, trigger the right changes, follow up
Improve and automate deployment processes, scripting and tooling
Gradually hand over the setup to the operational team (train, document, support)
What you need (the real filter):
5+ years as a system / operational / SRE engineer
Solid Azure: AKS, Storage, Event Hub / Event Grid, Monitoring, Security, Identity
Hands-on Istio service mesh (deployment, config, management) - this one is non-negotiable
ArgoCD, Docker, GitHub workflows & actions
Scripting: PowerShell, Bicep, Bash
Strong troubleshooting instincts and clear communication
Nice to have:
CKA/CKAD or Azure certs, Dynatrace/Splunk, other service mesh (Linkerd, Consul), cloud-native security.
If you operate Kubernetes and Istio in production and want a platform role on a serious migration, send me a DM or drop your profile.
