Your role

As an Accounting Expert, you will drive operational excellence and financial integrity across assigned entities in Asset Accounting, Intercompany, Bank Processing and Cash Application. Moving beyond routine execution, you will own complex accounting and operational issues, lead close activities for your scope, ensure compliance with local and Group policies, and serve as a trusted business partner to entity finance, Treasury and related process teams.

You will provide subject-matter expertise, resolve escalations, strengthen controls and lead practical improvements across the end-to-end processes. You will also mentor colleagues and help build a consistent, high-performing operating environment.

Key responsibilities

Asset Accounting

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounting lifecycle for fixed assets, including capitalization, transfers, disposals, retirements, depreciation and asset under construction, in accordance with Group policy and applicable accounting standards.

  • Review asset additions and supporting documentation, confirming appropriate capitalization, asset class, useful life, depreciation start date and cost center or other required assignments.

  • Monitor asset under construction and project-related balances; coordinate with project owners and entity finance to assess readiness for capitalization and clear aged or inactive items.

  • Review fixed-asset subledger-to-GL reconciliations and investigate interface failures, posting discrepancies and unexpected depreciation or retirement activity.

  • Support impairment indicators, asset counts and verification activities, statutory reporting and audit requests, partnering with the relevant finance and business stakeholders.

  • Maintain asset master data quality and ensure changes and transactions are appropriately supported, approved and traceable.

Intercompany accounting

  • Own the accuracy and completeness of intercompany accounting for assigned entities, including transaction recording, confirmation, reconciliation and settlement support.

  • Reconcile intercompany balances and transactions with counterparties; investigate mismatches, timing differences, missing invoices, incorrect partner or account assignments, and currency or exchange-rate differences.

  • Drive timely resolution of aged intercompany items and coordinate actions with counterpart entities, Group Accounting, Tax, Treasury and relevant process teams.

  • Support intercompany netting and settlement activities, ensuring balances are properly prepared, approved and aligned with established controls and cutoffs.

  • Review intercompany charges and supporting documentation for appropriate accounting treatment and consistency with applicable Group guidance; escalate tax, transfer-pricing or policy questions to the responsible experts.

  • Monitor intercompany confirmations, reporting deadlines and close dependencies, and provide clear status and variance commentary.

Bank processing and cash application

  • Oversee timely and accurate processing of bank statements and related cash transactions, including statement loading, transaction coding, posting and exception handling.

  • Review bank reconciliations, investigate unmatched or unusual items, and drive timely clearance of aged reconciling items in coordination with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and local finance.

  • Support accurate cash positioning and cash visibility by ensuring bank activity is recorded completely and in the correct period and accounts.

  • Oversee the application of customer receipts to open items using remittance information and established matching rules; review unapplied, unidentified and partially applied cash and coordinate resolution with customers, collections and business teams as appropriate.

  • Monitor cash application queues, bank-processing exceptions and service levels; prioritize time-sensitive items and escalate risks affecting customer accounts, collections or close reporting.

  • Ensure payment-related or bank-file activities within scope follow documented approval controls, segregation of duties and secure handling requirements. Escalate suspected errors or control breaches promptly.

Complex accounting, reconciliations and master data governance

  • Manage complex or sensitive accounting matters within the assigned scope and prepare or review journals and adjustments in line with policy, approval requirements and supporting evidence.

  • Oversee reconciliations of critical and high-risk accounts, including asset, intercompany, bank and cash-related accounts; ensure open items have clear owners, actions and target dates.

  • Act as a steward of relevant master data, including fixed-asset records, intercompany partner assignments, bank-account or transaction mappings and customer-related matching attributes, following established governance and approval processes.

  • Identify recurring errors and root causes, distinguishing one-off corrections from systemic issues that require process or system remediation.

Audit, compliance and risk management

  • Serve as a subject-matter contact for internal and external audits, working with ABPs and other stakeholders to prepare schedules, evidence and explanations and to resolve complex queries.

  • Ensure activities comply with internal controls (ICFR), Group accounting policies, local statutory requirements and approved process documentation.

  • Maintain complete, accurate and readily retrievable evidence for transactions, reconciliations, approvals and exceptions.

  • Assess control and operational risks across the four process areas; communicate issues promptly and support remediation through to completion.

Process optimization and technology

  • Identify and implement improvements that strengthen accuracy, control and service while reducing manual effort, avoidable exceptions and close-cycle time.

  • Use process data and root-cause analysis to improve asset transaction quality, intercompany matching, bank-statement processing and cash application.

  • Monitor operational metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as reconciliation completion, aged open items, intercompany match rates, bank-processing exceptions, unapplied cash and service-level performance.

  • Support appropriate automation and standardization, ensuring solutions are documented, controlled and sustainable.

Stakeholder partnership and escalation resolution

  • Act as the first point of escalation for complex operational issues within the assigned processes and coordinate timely, well-documented resolution.

  • Build consultative partnerships with local entity finance teams, ABPs, Treasury, I2C/Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Tax, Master Data and Group Accounting.

  • Communicate accounting impacts, risks, dependencies and decisions clearly to both finance specialists and non-specialist stakeholders.

  • Align end-to-end process handoffs so that upstream transaction quality supports accurate downstream accounting and reporting.

Leadership and capability building

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and day-to-day support to junior accountants and operations colleagues.

  • Share practical knowledge of accounting policies, controls, exception handling and system processes across the team.

  • Develop and maintain current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process maps, controls documentation and training materials.

  • Encourage ownership, constructive escalation and continuous learning across the team.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field required and/or CPA accreditation preferred

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting operations, shared services or finance, with substantial experience in one or more of Asset Accounting, Intercompany, Bank Processing or Cash Application.

  • Strong accounting knowledge, including IFRS; familiarity with local statutory and tax requirements is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead close activities, resolve complex reconciliations and investigate accounting or transaction exceptions.

  • Experience with SAP or another ERP system required; experience with bank-statement processing, fixed-asset, intercompany or accounts-receivable modules is an advantage.

  • Understanding of internal controls, audit evidence and segregation of duties.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Fluent English language skills required.

  • Experience in a Shared Services Center preferred.

  • Experience with automation or process-improvement tools (for example, VBA or other approved automation tools) is an advantage.

  • Willing to be based in BGC, Taguig.

  • Amenable to mid-shift or night-shift schedules, with shifts varying between MEC and non-MEC periods.
