In this role, you will design, build, integrate, validate, and deploy customer-specific test and measurement solutions with a primary focus on hardware design and SW system validation. You will work across electrical, electronic, mechanical, and software interfaces to deliver reliable solutions for customers in the Transportation Industry. You will apply established hardware engineering and delivery processes, contribute to reusable designs and documentation, and partner with customers and project teams to clarify requirements, deliverables, and acceptance criteria. While hardware will be your strongest area, you will also use software tools and basic programming skills to configure, automate, troubleshoot, and validate integrated systems.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Identify and clarify customer technical requirements, interfaces, constraints, and acceptance criteria with support from project and technical leaders.
- Contribute to effort estimates, bills of material, technical risk identification, and delivery planning for assigned hardware and integration work.
- Design and implement electrical and electronic subsystems for custom test solutions, including instrumentation, signal conditioning, switching, power distribution, communication interfaces, cabling, fixtures, and DUT connections.
- Select and configure T&M hardware based on measurement accuracy, bandwidth, channel count, timing, power, safety, environmental, reliability, and integration requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation such as block diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable lists, bills of material, hardware specifications, test procedures, assembly instructions, configuration records, and validation evidence.
- Bring up and troubleshoot test systems that combine hardware, software, sensors, actuators, and customer devices.
- Perform structured debugging and root cause analysis using schematics, measurements, logs, traces, and diagnostic equipment.
- Able to run verification, guide factory acceptance, and perform installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities, including onsite work when required.
- Follow established engineering, configuration management, documentation, quality, and safety processes; raise technical risks and scope changes early.
- Develop or modify basic software utilities, scripts, test sequences, or configurations needed to control and validate the hardware solution.
- Work with Project Managers, technical leads, manufacturing teams, suppliers, partners, and customers to resolve project challenges and deliver assigned work packages.
- Support technical demonstrations, proofs of concept, customer training, and the transition of completed systems to the customer or support organization.
- Identify opportunities to reuse standard hardware modules, drawings, procedures, and software components across projects.
- Communicate progress, issues, technical decisions, and support needs clearly and in a timely manner.
Who You Are:
You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys turning customer requirements into safe, reliable, and maintainable systems. You approach technical challenges methodically, work effectively in the lab and at customer sites, and collaborate openly across hardware and software disciplines. You are comfortable owning well-defined tasks with general guidance, asking for support when complexity or risk increases, and communicating status and issues early. You balance practical hardware execution with enough software capability to integrate, automate, test, and troubleshoot the complete solution.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 2 or more years of related experience in hardware development, electrical or electronic system integration, test engineering, automation, or the test and measurement industry.
- Practical understanding of electrical fundamentals, including analog and digital signals, sensors, signal conditioning, grounding, shielding, power distribution, and common communication interfaces.
- Experience reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, datasheets, pinouts, interface-control information, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory and diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, signal generators, or similar instruments.
- Ability to configure, bring up, validate, and troubleshoot integrated hardware systems in a structured and safe manner.
- Basic software capability in one or more tools or languages such as LabVIEW, TestStand, VeriStand, Python, C, or C++.
- Ability to document technical work clearly and maintain configuration and test records.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and customer-facing skills.
- Advanced English (B2+ or higher) required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing, and ambitious environment while managing assigned tasks and priorities.
- Availability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Willingness to work in the specified hybrid model 1 day from home and 4 office days.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Experience designing or integrating custom test systems, automated test equipment, HIL systems, dynamometers, or production test solutions.
- Working knowledge of T&M platforms and modular instrumentation, such as PXI, CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, or comparable technologies.
- Knowledge of transportation applications such as ADAS, vehicle systems, EV power conversion, inverters, electric motors, onboard chargers, or related component testing.
- Experience with automotive and industrial communication networks or protocols such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, EtherCAT, or serial interfaces.
- Experience with PCB interfaces, wiring harnesses, relays, switching, sensors, actuators, DAQ, motion, RF, or high-speed digital signal integration.
- Familiarity with electrical CAD or documentation tools and with creating wiring diagrams, cable drawings, panel layouts, or bills of material.
- Awareness of design practices related to electrical safety, machinery safety, EMC, grounding, high-voltage or high-power systems, risk assessment, and applicable compliance or certification requirements.
- Experience with supplier coordination, component selection, manufacturing support, factory acceptance testing, installation, or onsite commissioning.
- Familiarity with version control, work tracking, and collaborative engineering tools such as Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with UL standards, including researching applicable requirements and designing solutions in accordance with those standards.
- LabVIEW and/orTestStand certification.
