Lead Engineer - Automation Quality
About the Role
We’re looking for a Lead Engineer - Automation Quality to drive our test automation strategy and help build scalable, reliable, and modern quality engineering solutions.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll design automation frameworks, solve complex quality challenges, mentor engineers, influence engineering best practices, and partner with Development, DevOps, Product, and other teams. You’ll also have opportunities to explore AI and emerging technologies to advance our automation capabilities.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable test automation frameworks and strategies for complex applications.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Quality/Test Automation Engineers.
Establish and champion automation standards, coding practices, and quality engineering best practices.
Design and develop API and UI automation using Java, Karate, Selenium, JUnit, and TestNG.
Evaluate automation tools and recommend solutions based on technical and business needs.
Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Product, and other stakeholders to define automation goals and priorities.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve continuous testing throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
Define and monitor automation metrics and KPIs to measure coverage, reliability, and effectiveness.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation across automation processes, frameworks, and tools, including opportunities to leverage AI.
Create technical documentation and training materials and deliver training on automation tools, frameworks, and best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance, direction, and prioritization to the team.
Remain hands-on with automation development, troubleshooting, and manual/exploratory testing when needed.
What You’ll Bring
7-10 years of software testing/quality engineering experience, including 4-5 years of hands-on automation testing experience or equivalent automation training.
Proven experience leading technical automation initiatives and mentoring engineers.
Strong hands-on programming skills in Java, including Core Java concepts.
Extensive experience with test automation frameworks and tools, including:
API Automation: Karate
UI Automation: Selenium
Testing Frameworks: JUnit and TestNG
Strong understanding of CI/CD processes and tools and experience integrating automated tests into delivery pipelines.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
Nice to Have
Performance testing experience with JMeter and/or LoadRunner.
Experience working in an AWS cloud environment.
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience or interest in AI-driven testing and intelligent automation.
