Senior Data Specialist (Oracle)

Endava is looking for a Senior Data Specialist (Oracle) to design, develop, and support enterprise data solutions based on Oracle technologies. The role combines advanced PL/SQL development with database architecture, data integration, performance optimization, release management, and production support.

You will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to transform requirements into reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and develop complex PL/SQL procedures, packages, batch processes, and data-processing solutions.
• Build and maintain integrations between Oracle Database and external systems using REST, SOAP, HTTP, XML, and JSON.
• Develop automation and operational scripts using Bash, Python, and scheduling tools.
• Design and improve data archiving, retention, storage, and data-movement strategies.
• Monitor and optimize Oracle database performance, including query tuning and execution-plan analysis.
• Contribute to technical architecture, database design, data flows, logging, error handling, and operational standards.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective solution designs.
• Provide Level 3 support for production incidents, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• Support release planning, deployment activities, database migrations, and production stabilization.
• Contribute to containerized and machine-learning-enabled solutions where relevant.
• Work effectively across multiple priorities and take ownership of the stability and quality of delivered solutions.

• Experience with Oracle Database and advanced PL/SQL development.
• Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, execution plans, and database optimization techniques.
• Experience with batch processing, parallel processing, scheduling, archiving, partitioning, or data retention.
• Experience integrating databases with external systems and web services.
• Good knowledge of Bash scripting and practical experience with Python.
• Familiarity with XML, JSON, REST, SOAP, HTTP, and JWT authentication.
• Experience with version control, release management, and production deployments.
• Experience with Docker, scikit-learn, or Siebel EIM is considered an advantage.
• Ability to contribute to architectural decisions and design scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in production and performance-related scenarios.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• A strong sense of ownership, attention to quality, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
