Sales Lead

General Purpose of the Position

The Sales Lead is responsible for driving new business development across heavy industry clients (mining, steel, metals, cement) throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

The role focuses on identifying opportunities for energy efficiency and electrification solutions involving MV motors, VFD technologies, and industrial optimisation.

Essential Duties and Key Activities

Business Development

Identify and secure new opportunities across heavy industry sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Client Relationship Development

Build strong relationships with operators and industrial stakeholders across the region.

Solution Sales

Promote industrial energy efficiency and electrification solutions.

Market Expansion

Support the growth of the company's presence across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Requirements

• Proven 5+ years of business development experience with motor controls, VSDs/VFDs, pumps, fans or energy-as-a-service products.
• Track record of identifying and securing new business opportunities within industrial or energy markets.
• Experience selling complex technical solutions, ideally involving energy efficiency, electrification, or industrial optimisation technologies.
• Experience building and managing relationships with operators, engineering firms, and industrial stakeholders.
• Experience in a hunter sales role focused on new business development, including cold calling and developing opportunities through an existing network, preferably in the mining industry, especially deep level mines.
• Experience with solution selling and/or MEDDPICC/Miller Heiman.
• Must be based in Gauteng or North West Province, South Africa, with eligibility to work in South Africa.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Fluent in English.
• Will need to pass a medical to comply with health and safety requirements to work within the mining and metal industry, as site visits are an essential part of the role.
• Experience operating in entrepreneurial or high-growth sales environments is an advantage.
• Experience working across multiple African markets and regulatory environments is an advantage.
• Experience with Salesforce or another major CRM tool would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of the South African mining industry, with additional exposure to mining markets across the rest of Africa, would be advantageous.
• Fluency in Afrikaans or one other official South African language would be advantageous.
