Senior Network Engineer

Responsibilities:

• The Senior Infrastructure Engineer executes a range of activities using automation, enterprise systems management (ESM), and continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) technologies, delivering important capabilities within the infrastructure landscape.
• Complete the implementation of high-level designs for stable network and infrastructure environments that meet Entain's needs, share them with partners, and comply with current security, privacy, and audit requirements.
• Provide technical knowledge where needed to support managers, principals or technical experts to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with application development, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to develop and implement a compelling product roadmap.
• Implement the automation and orchestration capabilities across the environment and establish procedures that promote efficiency, solving a range of daily user problems.
• Deliver daily support to internal tools and system health, and infrastructure implemented for all projects and manage customer support contracts.
• Collaborate with technical architects, using experience to translate architectural designs into operations.
• Document the processes, measurements, and assessments required for both personal and project work.
• Develops and shares with the team knowledge on new trends and changes in infrastructure engineering.
• Implement ways to improve working processes within the area of infrastructure engineering responsibility through data analysis, including network and infrastructure performance and health, to identify issues and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

• Education: Completed a bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in core networking.
• Language: Fluent English (minimum B1 level) is a prerequisite.

Core Networking:

• Network Topology and TCP/IP: knowledge for designing and troubleshooting networks.
• DNS: Expertise in name resolution and application connectivity.
• Routing and Switching (Cisco/Juniper): Proficient in managing enterprise networks and ensuring efficient traffic flow.
• Firewalls (FortiGate/Palo Alto): Accomplished in network security and segmentation.

Advanced Networking:

• Experience installing HAProxy / F5 in production environments.
• Troubleshoot L4/L7 traffic flows and HAProxy / F5 configuration issues.
• DDoS Mitigation: Experience protecting against large-scale attacks.
• Application Layer: Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and SSL/TLS for secure communication.

Automation and Scripting:

• Hands-on experience scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of REST APIs (F5 iControl REST, HAProxy Data Plane API), infrastructure automation tools (Ansible preferred), CI/CD pipeline integration for configuration deployment, and configuration management using Git.

Monitoring:

• Network Monitoring: Familiarity with SNMP, REST APIs, and monitoring tools for proactive issue detection.

Cloud and Remote Access:

• Cloud Technologies (AWS/GCP): Ability to design and manage hybrid or cloud-native network architectures using services like VPC, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateway.
• Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) with Palo Alto: Implement secure remote access solutions based on Zero Trust principles, ensuring identity-based access control and minimising attack surfaces.

Additional Requirement:

• On-Call Support: Must be available to participate in an on-call rota only when needed.
