POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for an AV Technician based in the Tokyo area to provide flexible onsite support across a portfolio of client environments in Japan and the wider APAC region. This is a hands-on role for someone with a solid technical foundation who can support day-to-day operations, investigate issues methodically and build confidence across unfamiliar environments with guidance from experienced colleagues and specialists when needed.

Rather than being assigned to a single client, location or technology stack, you will be deployed wherever operational support, project assistance or short-term cover is needed. The work may span AV operations, live events, integration, workplace technology, IT infrastructure and data-centre environments. Success will depend less on expertise in any one platform and more on broad technical understanding, strong diagnostic ability and the confidence to learn new systems quickly.

The role has a significant regional remit and requires frequent travel to locations including Manila, Singapore, Seoul and Mumbai, as well as other sites when business needs require.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Flexible technical delivery

You will provide planned and short-notice cover across a range of client sites, supporting absences, workload peaks, projects, commissioning activity and operational incidents. Each assignment may involve different systems, processes and expectations, so you will need to assess the environment quickly, understand local documentation and work effectively with client teams and other technical specialists.

The work may include operational support, structured fault finding, preventative maintenance, physical installation, equipment replacement, system checks, room or site handovers and other project-based requests. You will be expected to take ownership within your level of competence, follow agreed procedures, recognise when specialist support is required and leave accurate records so that each client environment remains stable and well documented.

Multi discipline support

AV operations will remain an important foundation of the role, but assignments may also involve event support, integration, workplace systems, IT infrastructure, networking, structured cabling or data-centre activity. You are not expected to arrive as a specialist in every discipline; however, you must be technically curious, comfortable working outside a narrow remit and able to build practical knowledge quickly.

Regional support and travel

You will provide both onsite and remote assistance across APAC, travelling frequently for technical cover, project work, deployments, commissioning and operational improvements. You will work across cultures, time zones and local teams, adapting to different client environments while maintaining a consistent standard of service.

Service management and collaboration

You will manage incidents, requests and assigned tasks through to resolution using the processes and systems required by each client. Clear communication, accurate documentation and timely escalation will be essential. You will work closely with service teams, project leads, client stakeholders, vendors and local technical teams, contributing to operating procedures, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement wherever possible.

 WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Around two years of hands-on technical operations or support experience in corporate, enterprise or multi-site environments, with a practical foundation in AV operations.
• Broad understanding of integrated technical environments and a structured approach to isolating faults across physical, software and network-connected systems.
• Demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly, interpret technical documentation and work within different client processes, standards and security requirements.
• Hands-on experience with maintenance, installation, commissioning, equipment changes and accurate technical documentation.
• Strong service ownership and customer-facing communication skills, including incident management, timely escalation and clear progress updates.
• Business-level spoken and written English, together with Japanese proficiency at JLPT N2 level or equivalent professional working ability.
• Comfortable working across varied environments, which may include corporate offices, event spaces, integration sites and data centres.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally on a frequent basis, sometimes at short notice, and to work paid overtime when operationally required.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

Experience working across more than one technical discipline would be advantageous, particularly within integration, IT infrastructure, events, networking, structured cabling or data-centre operations. Previous experience in a managed-services environment, supporting multiple clients or providing regional technical cover would be especially valuable, as would relevant industry training or professional certifications.
