About the Role

We are looking for a Senior AV Events Technician with show calling experience to provide dedicated onsite event support for a leading global entertainment company in London.

In this role, you will be a senior production partner to the client’s AV Events team. You will independently lead complex events and take responsibility for planning, technical leadership and show calling across larger productions.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can support the client’s event leads by taking ownership of assigned production areas, from early preparation through to live delivery. You will work alongside an existing Events Technician, support their professional development and act as an escalation point when an event issue requires additional experience or technical expertise.

Approved offsite events may require travel within the UK or internationally. Some events and associated travel will take place outside standard working hours.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning and Delivery

• Lead planning and pre-production calls for complex events.
• Clarify requester requirements and develop an appropriate technical approach in partnership with the client’s events team.
• Produce and maintain event documentation, which may include show specifications, run-of-show documents, equipment and crew requirements, content checks and rehearsal plans.
• Coordinate vendors and other production partners as required.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned events.
• Identify production risks at an early stage and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Test playback, content and other show elements before live delivery.
• Ensure event spaces and production equipment are fully prepared before each event begins.
• Oversee rehearsals and support the complete technical execution of events.

Live Production and Larger Events

• Build, test and operate QLab sessions across multiple devices.
• Manage cues, content, audio, video, presenter prompts and timers during live events.
• Take ownership of assigned production areas from initial planning through to execution.
• Apply practical show calling experience across events involving multiple presenters, cues and technical elements.
• Lead pre-production workstreams on larger productions where required.
• Undertake responsibilities such as show caller, stage manager or technical department lead, while the client retains overall Technical Director responsibility for the event.
• Maintain clear communication across the production team throughout event delivery.

Technical Support and Event Standards

• Set up, test and operate event production spaces.
• Check switchers, graphics systems, mixers, microphones and ancillary production equipment.
• Troubleshoot audio, video and network signal paths using a structured and methodical approach.
• Support hybrid and virtual events using platforms such as Google Meet, Zoom and livestreaming tools.
• Use live production technologies that may include OBS, video switching, multiscreen management, Companion and Stream Deck.
• Reset production spaces following events and ensure equipment is returned to the correct configuration.
• Record equipment faults through the appropriate ticketing process.
• Assist with equipment inventory management and quality control.
• Complete all required event documentation, records and operational handovers.

Onsite and Offsite Collaboration

• Maintain a consistent onsite presence at the client’s London office.
• Support events at external venues when the assignment has been approved by the client.
• Work flexibly when approved events or travel occur outside standard hours, with approved time off in lieu arranged accordingly.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with engineers, event organisers, presenters, production teams, directors and vendors.
• Escalate issues promptly when additional technical or operational support is required.
• Build effective working relationships with internal and external event stakeholders.

Team Support and Development

• Work collaboratively with the existing Events Technician and wider client team.
• Share technical knowledge and help colleagues develop their event production skills.
• Provide guidance during planning, setup, rehearsal and live event delivery.
• Act as an escalation point for complex production or technical issues.
• Contribute to consistent event standards and continuous improvement across the service.

Essential Experience and Skills

• Experience independently leading complex corporate events from technical planning through to live execution.
• Experience taking ownership of assigned production workstreams on larger shows.
• Strong QLab proficiency, including building, testing and troubleshooting show files.
• Experience managing playback across multiple devices.
• Practical show calling experience, with confidence supporting events involving multiple presenters, cues and high production values.
• A sound understanding of audio, video and networking signal flow.
• Practical knowledge of live production equipment and methodical fault finding.
• Experience supporting hybrid and virtual events using Google Meet and Zoom.
• Ability to work effectively within a crewed operator or specialist production position.
• Clear and professional communication with organisers, presenters and production teams, including when working to tight deadlines.
• Ability to guide less-experienced colleagues and coordinate external vendors.
• Confidence using macOS, Windows, Chromebooks and Google Workspace.
• Willingness and ability to attend the London office each working day.
• Willingness and ability to travel for approved events, including international travel where required.
• Flexibility to support events and associated travel outside standard working hours.
