Senior Manager - Technical & Projects

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced electrical engineering professional to lead complex power system consulting and engineering projects for clients across the globe.

As Senior Manager - Technical & Projects, you will provide technical leadership across power system studies, electromagnetic transient analysis, and EMI/EMC studies. You will be responsible for leading project execution, reviewing technical deliverables, providing engineering recommendations, managing client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budgeted effort.

The role requires strong expertise in power system analysis, hands-on experience with engineering simulation software such as ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, or equivalent tools, and the ability to translate complex technical analysis into practical recommendations for clients.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Engineering

• Lead and execute complex engineering studies across one or more of the following areas:
  • Power System Studies: Load flow, short circuit, motor starting, transient stability, relay coordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, and renewable energy systems including solar, wind, and battery energy storage.
  • Electromagnetic Transient Studies: Insulation coordination, lightning surge analysis, GIS switching studies, and related switching transient analysis.
  • EMI/EMC Studies: Electromagnetic interference and compatibility assessments for complex electrical environments, including oil & gas facilities, railways, and other industrial applications.
• Utilize engineering simulation tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, CDEGS, or equivalent software to perform detailed analysis and develop technically sound solutions.
• Review electrical power systems, distribution networks, industrial control systems, and renewable energy installations for technical integrity and compliance with applicable IEC, IEEE, and client standards.
• Develop engineering recommendations for system design, operation, protection, optimization, and troubleshooting based on study results.
• Provide technical leadership in the investigation and resolution of electrical system issues, including system trips, equipment failures, and site incidents.
• Review technical reports, calculations, models, and other engineering deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency.

Project & Client Management

• Own project execution from scope definition through completion, ensuring deliverables meet agreed scope, schedule, quality, and budget/man-hour requirements.
• Plan and manage project resources, priorities, risks, and technical deliverables.
• Monitor project progress and proactively address technical, schedule, or resource-related issues.
• Serve as a senior technical point of contact for clients and respond to technical queries with clear, accurate, and timely guidance.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to clients through reports, presentations, workshops, and technical meetings.
• Support business development activities, including technical discussions, proposals, estimates, and client presentations as required.

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project team members.
• Review and support the development of engineering methodologies, tools, templates, and best practices.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support capability development and knowledge transfer across the engineering team.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant professional experience in power system studies and electrical engineering consulting, preferably within industrial, utility, oil & gas, renewable energy, rail, or similar environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with ETAP and/or PSCAD; experience with CDEGS or equivalent engineering software is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems, protection, system studies, and applicable IEC/IEEE standards.
• Demonstrated experience leading technically complex projects and managing project scope, schedules, and deliverables.
• Experience interacting directly with international clients and presenting technical findings and recommendations.
• Prior experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers.
