Senior Solution Architect ( M/F/H )

We are looking for an experienced Senior Solution Architect to support a range of business and IT projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and assuring solution architectures, providing technical consultancy and ensuring that applications and IT solutions are well designed and aligned with established architecture standards and reference architectures.

You will work at the intersection of business, technology and IT delivery, helping projects translate business requirements into scalable and effective technology solutions.

The position is primarily an individual contributor role, although you may also provide guidance to other professionals or take responsibility for a small team.

What will you do?

• Develop and define solution architectures for projects and business initiatives.
• Provide architecture consultancy, technical guidance and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure applications and solutions comply with relevant architecture standards, principles and reference architectures.
• Translate architecture guidelines and standards into practical solutions.
• Identify and solve technical challenges and provide clear technology recommendations.
• Assess existing solutions and identify opportunities to optimise IT systems and applications.
• Support the identification, development and implementation of new technologies and innovative solutions.
• Ensure architecture decisions and key architecture artefacts are properly documented and reusable.
• Apply relevant technology and architecture standards and identify when exceptions or deviations are required.
• Work closely with project teams, developers, IT specialists, business stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Provide coaching, guidance and knowledge sharing to other technology professionals.
• Act as a subject matter expert when required in discussions with suppliers, customers and external parties.

Stakeholder Management:

You will work closely with senior business and IT stakeholders, including business leadership.

A key part of the role is understanding business objectives and translating them into appropriate technology and architecture solutions.

You should be comfortable presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders, explaining complex technical topics in a clear way and challenging existing approaches when necessary.

The ability to influence without formal authority is important for this position.

Technology & Architecture

You will work within the wider IT strategy and technology roadmap and apply the relevant reference architectures and standards to your area of responsibility.

Depending on the specific project, this may involve areas such as:

• Cloud
• Application Architecture
• Integration and APIs
• Mobile technologies
• Open Source
• Big Data and Analytics
• Data Architecture
• Digital technologies
• Enterprise platforms

Experience with architecture modelling and documentation tools is an advantage. Relevant tools may include IBM System Architect, PowerDesigner and/or ProVision.

We are looking for a senior technology professional with a strong combination of solution architecture, technical expertise and stakeholder management.

You ideally bring:

• Several years of experience in Solution Architecture, IT Architecture or Technical Architecture.
• Proven experience designing and assuring complex IT or application solutions.
• Experience working with architecture standards, principles and governance.
• Strong understanding of modern IT and technology landscapes.
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience advising project teams and challenging proposed solutions where appropriate.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for technology optimisation and innovation.
• Experience mentoring or guiding other technology professionals is a plus.
