Senior Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot)

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development with strong expertise in Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, load balancing, fault tolerance, and resilient application design.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
• Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL/DataStore, including performance optimisation and query tuning.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Apache Kafka or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automated deployment strategies.
• Proficiency in code versioning tools such as Git, GitHub, and GitLab.
• Experience with application monitoring, logging, and observability tools, including Grafana, Datadog, and Loki.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimisation skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

AI and Modern Engineering Experience (Good to have):

• Experience integrating LLMs (Large Language Models) or generative AI.
• Exposure to AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, Spring AI, OpenAI APIs, Google Vertex AI, or similar AI platforms.
• Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Familiarity with AI observability, prompt engineering, model evaluation, and responsible AI best practices.
