Farmer Mac is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Calypso Systems Analyst to support the operation, configuration, testing, and continuous improvement of Farmer Mac's Calypso platform, which runs on the Nasdaq CapCloud managed service. This role combines technical and functional platform support, system configuration, requirements analysis, testing, and documentation. The successful candidate will serve as a key partner to the Calypso Platform Manager and will bring strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both business and technology teams.

The People You Will Work With

The position will report directly to the Calypso Platform Manager. The role will work closely with the Calypso business owner, the IT team, the Calypso support team, the Quality Engineering team, Finance and Treasury business users, and IT leadership. The role will also collaborate with Cybersecurity, IT Infrastructure, Internal Audit, External Audit, and Nasdaq support and CapCloud teams.

Where and When You Will Work

This position can be performed remotely, with limited travel to Farmer Mac's headquarters at 2100 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC. Farmer Mac is a Presence with a Purpose work environment, providing flexibility while creating opportunities for teams to come together in the office with purpose. Occasional work outside core hours may be required for planned upgrades, releases, and production events, as well as unplanned issues and time-sensitive projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Farmer Mac Calypso knowledge: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Farmer Mac's instance of Calypso and its business rules, including how products, workflows, static data, accounting rules, interfaces, and reports are configured to support Farmer Mac's business processes. Use this knowledge to assess the impact of changes, resolve issues, and advise the business owner and IT team.
  • Support ticket coordination: Coordinate closely with the Calypso support team on open support tickets, helping to triage issues, provide technical and functional analysis, validate fixes, and confirm resolution with business users. Escalate complex or recurring issues to the Calypso Platform Manager and identify trends that point to root causes.
  • Configuration and enhancements: Configure and maintain Calypso setup, including workflows, static and reference data, products, accounting rules, reports, and user and security roles. Deliver approved enhancements in line with Farmer Mac's change management process and maintain supporting evidence.
  • Requirements and analysis: Partner with the Calypso business owner and business stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize requirements. Perform gap analysis between business needs and Calypso functionality and recommend configuration-based solutions.
  • Testing: Plan and execute system, regression, and user acceptance testing for enhancements, patches, and releases. Document test cases, results, and defects, and support business users through UAT and sign off.
  • Test automation: Work with the internal Quality Engineering team to build and maintain automated regression tests for Calypso, including test data, environment readiness, and test result analysis, using Calypso testing tools where applicable.
  • Upgrades and releases: Support the Calypso Platform Manager with version upgrades and vendor releases, including impact analysis, environment validation, testing, cutover activities, go live support, and post-release hypercare.
  • Data and integrations: Use SQL and Calypso reporting tools to investigate data issues, validate results, and support reconciliation. Monitor and troubleshoot interfaces and data feeds between Calypso and upstream and downstream systems.
  • Access and controls: Administer user access and role changes, support periodic access reviews, and maintain documentation to meet IT general control, audit, and SOX expectations. Provide evidence for internal and external audit requests.
  • Documentation and knowledge sharing: Maintain current runbooks, configuration documentation, support procedures, and user guides. Provide cross training to reduce key person risk.
  • User support and communication: Serve as a trusted point of contact for Calypso users, communicate issue status and planned changes clearly, and translate technical topics for nontechnical audiences.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve platform performance and resilience, including the use of AI and related tools.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Calypso configuration, including workflows, static data, scheduled tasks, messaging, reporting, and security setup, and familiarity with the Calypso trade lifecycle from capture through settlement and accounting.
  • Experience with Calypso testing tools such as the Calypso Automated Test Tool (CATT) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL, preferably Oracle, for data investigation, validation, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with reading Calypso logs and scripting or Java is a plus.
  • Experience defining clear, testable requirements, writing functional specifications, and supporting UAT and production deployments.
  • Experience with incident and problem management, root cause analysis, and working with a vendor managed or cloud hosted platform such as Nasdaq CapCloud.
  • Experience with change management, SDLC, and IT general controls, and with tools such as ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, or Jira.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and to work independently in a remote environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, ideally in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience as a systems analyst, business systems analyst, or application support analyst in capital markets, treasury, or financial services, including at least three years of hands-on experience with Calypso.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly treasury, capital markets, or secondary market operations, is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as Nasdaq Calypso Technical, Functional, or Certified Administrator, ITIL Foundation, or similar credentials are a plus.
