About the role
TheAgile Product Owner Lead is a senior individual contributor responsible for leadingdesign and development delivery across complexAuto Finance platforms supporting Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS). This role owns the end-to-end product backlog for one or more Agile teams, translating client requirements, contractual commitments, and enterprise strategy into executable solutions.
The role is primarily focused onproject-based design and development initiatives, withoccasional involvement in production support to ensure continuity, issue resolution, and client satisfaction. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Product Owner Lead works closely withVWFS stakeholders, Release Management, other Product Owners, QA, and Development teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions in a regulated financial services environment.
This role is recognized within FIS as a subject-matter expert in Agile delivery for Auto Finance, with growth paths into Principal Product Owner or broader Product and Portfolio leadership roles.
What you will be doing
Leaddesign and development execution for VWFS Auto Finance projects, ensuring delivery aligns to client requirements, product strategy, and enterprise priorities.
Own and manage the Agile backlog, ensuring work is clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for development.
Partner directly withVWFS business stakeholders to gather requirements and document Business Functional Requirements (BFRs).
Translate BFRs into well-structureduser stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring clarity for Development and QA teams.
Work closely withDevelopers and QA throughout the sprint lifecycle to clarify requirements, support design decisions, and ensure quality outcomes.
Collaborate withRelease Management to support release planning, sequencing, and readiness across multiple teams.
Coordinate withother Product Owners to manage cross-team dependencies and ensure consistent prioritization across VWFS initiatives.
Participate inproduction support activities as needed, including backlog triage, defect prioritization, and client communication.
Validate completed work against acceptance criteria and ensure solutions meet quality, regulatory, and production-readiness standards prior to release.
Provide functional guidance and mentorship to Product Owners and Analysts, reinforcing consistent Agile and SAFe practices.
What you will need
Advanced experience as a Product Owner in Agile or SAFe environments. (8+ years of experience)
Ability to analyze and document business processes, data flows, interfaces, and requirements for COBOL mainframe-based applications is strongly preferred.
Experience working with IBM Mainframe technologies is required, including COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and batch processing environments
Strong experience working ondesign and development-focused projects, with exposure to production support models.
Proven ability to work directly with clients togather requirements, write BFRs, and translate them into user stories and acceptance criteria.
Demonstrated experience delivering solutions withinAuto Finance or financial services domains.
Strong collaboration skills acrossRelease Management, Product, QA, and Development teams.
Ability to operate independently on complex, multi-team initiatives with significant business impact.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business audiences.
8+ years of experience in Product Ownership or related Agile delivery roles.
Bonus is you have
Auto Finance experience (ALS / AF platforms) strongly preferred.
Auto Servicing domain knowledge is a plus.
