Application Support - Professional IIWhat does a successful Senior Application Monitoring Engineer do at Fiserv?
A successful Senior Application Monitoring Engineer at Fiserv helps protect the availability, performance, and reliability of online banking platforms hosted across data centers and cloud environments. This role uses monitoring, automation, scripting, and API integrations to deliver precise alerting, reduce false positives, and support fast issue resolution. The Senior Application Monitoring Engineer also partners across teams to strengthen monitoring coverage, support high-priority incidents when needed, and improve operational efficiency.
What you will do?
- Use tools such as Splunk, ExtraHop, and Dynatrace to monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and deliver actionable insights.
- Apply scripting skills with Python, Selenium, Webdriver, and JMeter to automate monitoring tasks and improve team efficiency.
- Monitor cloud-hosted applications and implement API integrations across distributed environments to support performance, visibility, and system connectivity.
- Partner with teams to fine-tune alerting, reduce unnecessary notifications, eliminate false positives, and improve the relevance of alerts.
- Assist with high-severity outage investigations, participate in an on-call rotation, support occasional after-hours client go-lives and system changes, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and mentorship.
What you must have?
- 5+ years of experience in Windows Systems Engineering and/or Application Support.
- 5+ years of experience in Application Monitoring and Observability across multiple products in large organizations.
- Experience supporting 2 core environments: IIS and Windows.
- Bachelor’s degree in 1 relevant field, such as Computer Science or Engineering.
What would be nice to have?
- Experience with 3+ additional monitoring tools, such as ExtraHop, Dynatrace, or Moogsoft.
- 1+ certification or equivalent experience with the Azure cloud platform.
