Director, Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA)

About your role:

Lead the enterprise Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program as a core component of the Operational Risk Management Framework. Partner with business leaders, Line of Business Risk Officers, process owners, Compliance, Technology Risk, Internal Audit, and other assurance functions to maintain a current, evidence-based view of operational risk and control effectiveness. Strengthen governance, improve decision-ready reporting, and drive scalable, technology-enabled risk management capabilities across the enterprise.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the end-to-end enterprise RCSA lifecycle, including scoping, process and risk identification, inherent risk assessment, control mapping, control design review, operating effectiveness assessment, residual risk determination, challenge, approval, reporting, and remediation tracking.
  • Maintain and improve RCSA standards, procedures, playbooks, rating criteria, evidence requirements, templates, calendars, governance forums, and role accountability across process owners, control owners, and first-line teams.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through quality assurance, scoring calibration, data quality reviews, coverage analysis, maturity assessments, and independent validation.
  • Drive RCSA modernization by simplifying assessments, improving process-level insight, automating workflow and evidence capture, strengthening data lineage, and enabling trigger-based reassessments where appropriate.
  • Integrate RCSA results with risk appetite, issues, operational risk events, control testing, key risk indicators, scenario analysis, business change, third-party risk, technology risk, and operational resilience reporting.
  • Challenge residual risk conclusions, escalation decisions, and remediation plans using testing results, issue history, event data, metrics, and other documented evidence.
  • Present risk insights, program performance, and recommendations to executive leadership, governance committees, auditors, and regulators.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 6+ years of experience in operational risk management, enterprise risk management, internal audit, compliance, financial services risk, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing, executing, and enhancing enterprise RCSA programs, including process scoping, risk taxonomy, inherent and residual risk scoring, control design assessment, operating effectiveness assessment, remediation, and governance.
  • Experience presenting risk insights, program updates, and recommendations to executive leadership, governance committees, auditors, and regulators.
  • Experience using Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms such as Archer, ServiceNow GRC, OneTrust, or similar solutions.
  • Experience developing reporting and analysis using Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Master's degree, Juris Doctor, or similar advanced education in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
  • Professional certification such as Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or a similar credential.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audit remediation, program transformation, and maturity improvement initiatives.
  • Experience connecting RCSA outputs to operational resilience, third-party risk, and technology risk programs.

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
