This is an exciting field-based role focused on developing and growing our Castrol service network while driving sales of Castrol lubricant products across the Independent Workshop Sector (IWS).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a relationship-focused sales professional who enjoys identifying new business opportunities, developing existing customer accounts and delivering profitable growth.

About the Role

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of customers, securing new commercial business opportunities, and delivering sustainable revenue and margin growth.

Working closely with customers across the Independent Workshop Sector, you'll build long-term partnerships, promote the Castrol product range and implement branded programmes that enhance customer value, retention and growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing an existing portfolio of commercial accounts.
  • Identifying, targeting and securing new business opportunities.
  • Growing sales through account development, range selling and ancillary product opportunities.
  • Delivering sales, margin and retention targets.
  • Promoting and implementing Castrol branded programmes within your customer base.
  • Building strong, lasting customer relationships through regular face-to-face engagement.
  • Preparing and presenting commercial propositions and contract negotiations.
  • Monitoring competitor activity and market developments.
  • Analysing sales performance and identifying opportunities to maximise profitability.
  • Managing customer pipelines and reporting activity through company systems.
  • Working collaboratively with marketing, commercial, transport and customer service teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Supporting debt management activities and ensuring accounts remain commercially healthy.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

Essential

  • Proven experience in business development, field sales or account management.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Experience developing and retaining customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Good IT skills including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Independent Workshop Sector (IWS).
  • Knowledge of lubricants or automotive aftermarket products.
  • Basic understanding of engine oil and lubrication systems.
  • Experience selling technical or business-to-business products.

What You'll Need to Succeed

The successful candidate will be commercially focused, highly motivated and passionate about delivering excellent customer outcomes. You'll be comfortable working independently in a field-based environment while managing multiple opportunities and building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

Why Join Us?
