Position Summary
Fluence is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Electrical Engineer with 3-4 years of hands-on experience in AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, or similar electrical CAD tools to support electrical design, manufacturing documentation, and engineering change management activities. The role involves developing and maintaining detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable drawings, and related engineering documentation. The engineer will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Sustaining Engineering teams to deliver accurate, high-quality electrical designs and support product improvements and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and panel layouts.
- Develop 2D electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar CAD tools.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs, cable schedules, terminal plans, and connection diagrams.
- Support electrical engineers with design changes, CRs, NCRs, and manufacturing issues.
- Review drawings for manufacturability, electrical clearances, routing, and standards compliance.
- Incorporate engineering changes into existing product drawings and documentation.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and suppliers.
- Support drawing release through PLM/document-control systems such as Windchill.
- Review supplier/manufacturing drawings and resolve technical discrepancies.
- Maintain drawing revisions and ensure configuration/documentation accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor in Electrical, Electronics, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in electrical CAD design and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, or equivalent electrical CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable routing, terminal connections, connectors, and electrical panel layouts.
- Experience in creating and maintaining electrical drawings, BOMs, cable schedules, and manufacturing documentation.
- Good understanding of electrical design practices, drawing standards, symbols, and revision control.
- Experience supporting Engineering Change Requests (CRs), BOM changes, drawing revisions, and product documentation updates.
- Ability to interpret electrical specifications, schematics, datasheets, and engineering requirements.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and configuration-controlled engineering documentation.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Experience with PLM systems such as PTC Windchill is preferred.
- Experience in BESS, power electronics, industrial equipment, electrical enclosures, or similar products is an added advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical CAD software.
- Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable routing drawings, panel layouts, and connection diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical components, connectors, terminals, cables, wire harnesses, and panel hardware.
- Familiarity with electrical BOM creation and component selection.
- Experience with Engineering Change Management, including CRs, drawing revisions, BOM updates, and document releases.
- Working knowledge of PLM systems such as PTC Windchill and engineering document-control processes.
- Ability to interpret electrical specifications, datasheets, circuit diagrams, and system-level requirements.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, FAT, manufacturing issues, supplier queries, and field/service-related engineering changes.
- Basic understanding of BESS, power conversion systems, battery systems, industrial electrical equipment, or electrical enclosures is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional and global engineering teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy, configuration control, and documentation quality.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver engineering documentation within defined timelines.
