About the Team

Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Fanatics Betting and Gaming operates twenty-two retail sports betting locations, including the only sportsbook inside an NFL stadium at Northwest Stadium. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is headquartered in New York with offices in Denver, Leeds and Dublin.

As Director of Engineering for iCasino Experiences at Fanatics Betting and Gaming, you lead the engineering organization that builds the technology customers interact with in one of the fastest-growing online casinos in the U.S. Your teams design, build, and operate the software behind the casino experience across multiple customer-facing mobile applications, backed end-to-end by the content management systems and personalization that power every surface.

You'll lead an organization of roughly 20 full-time engineers spanning the U.S. and the U.K. This organization has built a product that industry analysts rank among the very best in the market for user experience, with a reliability record to match - and your mandate is to keep raising that bar while closing the competitive gap to the largest operators in the space.

This is a role that blends strategic and operational leadership. You'll set the delivery direction and quality standards your engineering managers run their teams against, shape the technical roadmap in close partnership with Product, Design, and TPM, and represent iCasino in cross-company programs - architectural, delivery, and people-related. You are customer-obsessed, and you know how to translate that obsession into an organization that ships fast and constantly evolves.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing engineering organization across the U.S. and the U.K.
• Own delivery across the domain - set the operating rhythm, hold teams to commitments, proactively surface and resolve cross-team delivery risks, and keep capacity allocation transparent to Product and business stakeholders
• Own the engineering quality and reliability bar for all customer-facing casino applications, including production readiness standards, observability, test automation strategy, and incident response across the domain
• Partner with Product, Design, and TPM leadership to shape the roadmap, drive iterative delivery with intentionally scoped V1s, and translate company-level experience priorities into the domain's execution plan
• Hire, develop, and coach engineering managers and senior individual contributors; design the org structure and talent strategy needed to meet business goals
• Represent iCasino Experiences in cross-organization programs spanning architecture, delivery, and people - driving alignment while keeping Casino's needs front and center
• Champion improvements to engineering practices, planning processes, and operational maturity that scale beyond your own domain
• Step into ambiguous, cross-team problems that lack a clear owner, structure the work, and lead it to resolution
• Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities

Experience and Skills

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams through managers, ideally across multiple geographies and time zones
• Proven ownership of consumer-facing product experiences at scale - you have led organizations building mobile products where speed, polish, and reliability are the differentiators
• Strong delivery leadership, with a track record of running predictable execution across multiple teams, managing risk proactively, and holding a high quality bar without sacrificing velocity
• Demonstrated ability to build and scale engineering organizations - hiring and developing engineering teams, designing team structures aligned to business needs, and making hard performance calls with clarity and fairness
• Deep operational rigor - experience owning production reliability for customer-facing systems, including observability, on-call structures, incident management, and post-incident improvement
• Strong technical judgment across modern client and backend architectures - able to guide architectural decisions, evaluate platform bets, and resolve cross-team technical risks without being in the code every day
• Comfort leading distributed teams across time zones

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in online gaming or other highly regulated industries, including familiarity with certification and compliance processes
• Experience leading teams building high-end mobile applications, and with content management or personalization systems
• Track record of driving cross-organization initiatives - planning process redesigns, platform migrations, or automation programs adopted beyond your own teams
• Background in startups or high-growth environments where products went from zero to market-leading

The range incorporates all of our Geographical Compensation Zones and is subject to change as the Zone associated with the actual offer is confirmed. Salary Range

$193,800—$318,750 USD
