iFlytek is a Chinese artificial intelligence company founded in Hefei in 1999 and the country's leading developer of speech recognition and synthesis technology. Its engines handle Mandarin, regional dialects and dozens of foreign languages, and are embedded in cars, phones, courtrooms, hospitals and call centres across China, alongside consumer hardware such as pocket translators, smart recorders and electronic learning tablets. The company holds a particularly strong position in education technology, where its adaptive learning systems are deployed in thousands of schools, and it develops the Spark family of large language models trained largely on domestic silicon.
