In this position...
Join a team that shapes the financial DNA of every vehicle we build. As a Lifecycle Cost Efficiency Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in achieving and sustaining world-class material cost performance across the full lifecycle of a vehicle nameplate. Partnering closely with the Vehicle Program Director, Chief Program Engineer, Finance, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, you'll help ensure every dollar spent on our vehicles delivers maximum value to our customers and the company.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in automotive product development, thrives in cross-functional team environments, and is comfortable navigating large, complex data sets to uncover actionable insights. A working knowledge of Ford's Global Product Development System (GPDS) and Program Timing Deliverables is a strong plus, as is a natural drive to champion cost efficiency at every opportunity.
What you'll do...
- Champion a strong Cost Culture across the organization, anchored in the three rules of efficient cost management: Don't Over Content (the vehicle), Don't Over Design (the content), and Don't Overpay (for the design)
- Leverage multiple data sources to identify and investigate Don't Over Content, Don't Over Design, and Don't Overpay opportunities
- Prepare for Cost Loop workshops by researching cost opportunities drawn from previously rejected ideas, competitive benchmarking, internal vehicle data, and cost estimates
- Lead Cost Loop workshops to build a bottom-up cost status by commodity for each control model
- Partner with the "Team of Four" - Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and Cost Estimating - to disposition material cost opportunities surfaced during Cost Loop workshops
- Develop ad-hoc What-If Cost Studies to inform strategic and tactical decision-making
- Represent the Material Cost Attribute at key program forums, including the Program Steering Team (PST), Chief Program Engineering Decision Forum (CPE DF), and Finance Program Activity Team (PAT)
Collaborate with Global Total Cost's skill teams - Benchmarking & Cost Attack, Global Vendor Tooling, Global Cost Estimating, Material Cost Data Architecture, and Indirect Engineering - to drive results
You'll have...
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or equivalent degree
- 7+ years of experience in automotive product development (OEM, Tier 1 supplier, etc.)
- Prior experience managing the design, sourcing, or cost analysis of at least one of the following commodities: internal combustion engines, automatic & hybrid transmissions, electric motors, high voltage batteries, or electronic modules
Even better, you may have...
- Systems Engineering certification, Master of Science (MS), or Master of Business Administration (MBA)
You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
