In this position...
This posting is for an Underbody Systems design & release engineer in product development specifically focused on Hydraulic Components: main control valve bodies, mechanical pumps, electrical pumps, and torque converters. The primary job function will be design iteration and optimization for both current and future Ford Motor Company products. We are looking for a motivated component engineer who is capable of immediate participation and design ownership responsibilities. We need someone with a persistent engineering curiosity to learn and solve complex problems. The role requires an engineer capable of a structured root cause problem solving approach; with good communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Prior experience with either leading supplier interface discussions and / or project management are preferred.
- Serve as a PD D&R Engineer responsible for main control valve body, mechanical pump, electrical pump, and torque converter components.
- Take ownership of the component, work hand-in-hand with technical specialists and suppliers.
- Work with Ford analytical teams, systems engineers, and suppliers to define component duty cycles
- Lead teams through validation of components and sub-assemblies
- Lead structured root cause investigations
- Define ES Specs for components and suppliers.
- Complete design assessments including design rules, requirements, assembly stacks, and print updates
- Must be approved to travel globally.
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- 1 year of Engineering experience (any industry or field)
- Hands-on problem solver and strong root cause skills
- Independent,; self-starter when required
- Good communicator and can foster relationships with suppliers
- Must be in Livonia, Michigan 4 days per week
Preferred:
- Hydraulic component or Hydraulic system experience preferred
- Transmission, Powertrain, or Driveline experience preferred
- Ford design & release experience preferred
- Quality & Warranty experience preferred
- CAD, CAE/FEA, CFD, MBSE experience preferred

This position is a salary grade 5 through grade 8. Salaries may range from $65,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
