About the role and team

The Product Owner - Audit Tools & Techniques (ATTs) is responsible for the business-as-usual ownership, governance and oversight of audit technology solutions once they have completed delivery from Audit Transformation.

The role sits within Audit Quality Support and is accountable for ensuring that ATTs and other licensed audit tools remain compliant, effectively governed, appropriately controlled and aligned to audit methodology and regulatory requirements. The role ensures that tools are not only available, but remain relevant, well-managed and fully embedded within audit delivery through robust governance, clear ownership and effective stakeholder coordination.

A key focus is maintaining strong control over licence management, supplier relationships, usage monitoring and documentation, ensuring that risks are managed, obligations are met and audit teams are supported with clear and consistent guidance.

· Own the full BAU lifecycle of ATTs and licensed audit tools following completion of development, governance and initial implementation.

· Maintain accountability for the governance and compliance position of all assigned tools, ensuring alignment with ISQM1 and internal audit quality requirements such as Governance and Certification review.

· Oversee the completion of governance and certification renewals and decommissioning activities where required.

· Manage licence allocation, access control and renewal cycles, ensuring licences are appropriately granted, tracked and controlled across the audit population.

· Lead and manage relationships with third-party suppliers, including contract renewals, service reviews, issue resolution and ongoing performance monitoring.

· Monitor and assess tool usage, adoption, performance and feedback, using data and insight to inform decision-making and prioritisation.

· Ensure tools remain relevant and aligned to audit methodology, identifying where updates, enhancements or changes are required.

· Maintain and update training materials, user guidance and methodology content to reflect current tool functionality and regulatory expectations. This includes keeping up to date with relevant accounting standard and audit standard changes.

· Act as the central point of coordination between Audit Quality Support, ATT Support within Transformation, IT, Procurement, Methodology and audit teams for assigned tools.

· Support the transition of tools from Transformation into BAU ownership, ensuring clear handover, documentation and accountability is established.

· Identify risks, issues and dependencies impacting product performance, governance or compliance, and drive appropriate mitigation actions.

· Ensure any firmwide ATTs are implemented with an audit-specific overlay, if relevant, aligning guidance and outputs to audit methodology, quality and regulatory requirements.

· Provide insight into procurement processes, including due diligence, risk considerations and supplier selection where relevant.

· Contribute to audit quality initiatives, particularly where technology, methodology and governance intersect.

· Support communication to the audit service line regarding changes, updates or requirements relating to ATTs.

What we are looking for

· Experience within audit, audit quality, audit operations or a similar governance-focused environment.

· Strong understanding of audit methodology, regulatory expectations and quality requirements (e.g. ISQM1).

· Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across technical, operational and business teams.

· Ability to manage multiple tools, priorities and processes simultaneously while maintaining strong control and organisation.

· Strong attention to detail, particularly in relation to governance, documentation and compliance requirements.

· Ability to identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies in a structured and proactive way.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and practical guidance for audit teams.

· Commercial awareness, particularly in relation to licensing, supplier relationships and cost management.

Desirable skills

· Experience working with audit technology, licensed tools or digital audit solutions.

· Exposure to procurement processes, supplier management and contract negotiations.

· Experience working with governance and certification frameworks within a professional services firm.

· Understanding of data protection, IT security and access control considerations in relation to audit tools.

· Experience supporting rollout, adoption or BAU ownership of new technology solutions.

Success in role

Success will be demonstrated through strong ownership and governance of ATTs, ensuring tools remain compliant, well-managed and aligned to audit requirements. This includes effective control of licences and suppliers, clear and up-to-date documentation, strong stakeholder engagement and continued confidence from audit teams and quality functions. The role will ensure that audit technology is not only deployed, but sustainably managed and embedded within the firm’s control environment.
