About the Role

Apply hands-on mechanical engineering expertise to real-world engineering challenges involving 3D CAD modeling, technical drawings, tolerances, technical documentation, and engineering validation. This opportunity is suited to experienced mechanical design engineers who can produce accurate engineering outputs and provide clear technical judgment across the design and validation process.

You’ll contribute engineering expertise to a project focused on developing advanced AI systems for engineering applications by reviewing, creating, and evaluating mechanical engineering outputs. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

3D CAD Modeling

• Produce detailed 3D CAD models of mechanical components.

• Model components using platforms such as SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA.

• Review CAD outputs for technical accuracy and completeness.

• Apply appropriate engineering requirements when developing component designs.

Technical Drawings & Engineering Specifications

• Interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.

• Identify critical dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications.

• Produce and document component requirements clearly and accurately.

• Define and communicate manufacturing tolerances and relevant specifications.

Stress Analysis & FEA

• Apply conceptual knowledge of stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA).

• Provide technical insights and feedback on FEA-related engineering tasks.

• Support validation of engineering outputs through sound mechanical engineering judgment.

• Review analysis-related outputs for technical accuracy and consistency.

Technical Documentation

• Create clear, structured technical specifications and documentation.

• Review and improve existing technical documentation.

• Ensure engineering requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications are accurately represented.

• Maintain a high standard of technical clarity and documentation quality.

Engineering Review & AI Evaluation

• Review and critique CAD outputs and technical engineering content.

• Provide expert written and verbal feedback on mechanical engineering outputs.

• Identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or areas requiring improvement.

• Support the validation and refinement of AI-generated engineering outputs.

Collaboration

• Collaborate asynchronously with cross-functional teams.

• Communicate technical requirements and feedback clearly through remote communication tools.

• Work independently while maintaining alignment with project objectives.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design engineering.

• Strong experience with 3D CAD modeling.

• Proficiency in at least one of SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA.

• Strong ability to interpret and produce technical drawings.

• Experience working with dimensions, specifications, and manufacturing tolerances.

• Conceptual understanding of stress analysis and FEA principles.

• Experience reviewing and producing technical engineering documentation.

• Ability to define component requirements and engineering specifications.

• Strong understanding of engineering validation processes.

• Experience modeling mechanical components as a design engineer.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail and technical accuracy.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

CAD Platforms

Experience with one or more of:

• Experience producing comprehensive technical drawings and engineering documentation.

• Experience providing technical review and feedback on engineering outputs.

Compensation

Annualized Equivalent: $114,400-$208,000/year based on 40 hours/week
