Fulton Hogan is a New Zealand infrastructure, construction and services company, headquartered in Christchurch, that builds and maintains roads, bridges, airports, ports, rail, water and energy assets and produces asphalt, bitumen, concrete and quarry products. Started in Dunedin in 1933 by Jules Fulton and Bob Hogan, it works across New Zealand and Australia, with surfacing, asset management, laboratory, traffic management, barrier and transport businesses alongside its construction arm. Its Workday board hires civil operators, road workers, plant and machine operators, quarry and lab technicians, project and site engineers, safety advisers and digital and AI specialists.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator, to join our Civil Construction team based out of our office Ranui, Auckland.

Working closely within the Technical Services team, you’ll be the link between design, delivery, and site teams, working closely with internal specialists, contractors, and supervisors to keep temporary works properly managed from design brief through to permit to dismantle. This is a role for someone who knows their stuff, backs high standards, and is confident speaking up when it counts.

This is a key role that helps make sure good work gets done the right way, with no shortcuts when it comes to safety, design assurance, and compliance.

Core Focus Areas:

Procedure & Register Control | Design & Assurance | Inspections & Permits | Change Control & Stop Work

In addition to the above you will:

  • Implement and enforce the Temporary Works Management Procedure across the project.
  • Establish and maintain the Temporary Works Register, including categorisation, design status, inspections, and permits.
  • Coordinate temporary works activities and communication across site teams, designers, checkers, and specialist contractors.
  • Prepare clear design briefs that capture site conditions, loads, constraints, and construction sequencing.
  • Confirm temporary works are correctly risk categorised, independently checked, certified, and aligned with permanent works and consent requirements.
  • Inspect site conditions and review relevant safety documentation before erection or loading begins.
  • Manage permits to load, inspect, monitor, maintain, and approve dismantling of temporary works.
  • Enforce change control and stop any work that departs from approved designs or creates unacceptable risk.

At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Structural), Temp Works or similar qualifications
  • A minimum of 5+ years of practical civil engineering / major infrastructure or complex commercial building experience, including hands-on experience with falsework, heavy propping, crane working platforms, sheet piling, and ground support.
  • Hold a professional membership with Engineering NZ or recognition under the Washington or Sydney Accord would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of temporary works design coordination, risk categorisation, permit controls, and relevant legislative and industry requirements.
  • A proactive, accountable approach with the confidence to build strong relationships, hold the line on standards, and speak up when something’s not right.

This is a permanent full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week based in Auckland Region. The based salary for this position will be between $90,000 to $150,000 per annum.

Ko wai mātou | About us

At Fulton Hogan, good work is about more than what we build. It’s how we work together, back each other, and keep moving forward. We’re flat, friendly, and low ego. Titles matter less than ideas, and the best ideas can come from anywhere.

We take the work seriously, not ourselves. That means a team environment that’s welcoming and down to earth, with high expectations, honest feedback, and support to grow. When the pressure is on, we switch on and deliver. That’s what good work looks like here.

How to apply

If you’re ready to bring your temporary works expertise to a team that values good people, smart thinking, and serious standards when it counts, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now.
