Senior Import Controller

SUMMARY:
A leading freight and logistics company in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Senior Import Controller – Seafreight to join their team.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Coordinate and manage the forwarding of import shipments. Manage the clearing of shipments. Coordinate transport arrangements for import cargo. Handle invoicing and the administration of shipment files. Arrange insurance cover and process claims. Provide guidance and support to Import Controllers and Learners. Ensure compliance with the requirements of the company''s quality management system. Perform ad hoc duties as required. Experience and Knowledge Matric certificate. A two-year freight forwarding-related qualification at NQF Level 4 or NQF Level 5, or an equivalent qualification 5-7 years of recent import controlling experience within the clearing and forwarding industry. Proven track record of end-to-end import process execution. Ability to coordinate the movement of import cargo throughout the international transport chain in line with client import requirements. Knowledge of Incoterms. Knowledge of commercial, transport, carrier, depot, and statutory body documentation and stamps. Sound knowledge of seafreight shipment types. Sound knowledge of claims and insurance processes. Knowledge of geographic locations. Knowledge and interpretation of rate structures. Knowledge of national currencies and international codes. Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of RCG (Reporting of Conveyances and Goods). Financial acumen and data quality awareness. Shipshape
