ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Galvion is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer III to join our Engineering team in Portsmouth, NH. In this role, you’ll help design and build the next generation of advanced electro-mechanical systems engineered to seamlessly integrate with the human body and perform in some of the world’s most demanding environments. You’ll work as part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team alongside
Program Managers, Industrial Designers, Systems Architects, and Electrical Engineers to turn innovative concepts into high-quality products.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, and electro-mechanical systems using 3D CAD/SolidWorks.
- Create and review engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
- Design packaging for rigid and flexible electronic circuits and interconnections.
- Perform structural, thermal, heat-transfer, and tolerance-stack analyses.
- Develop prototypes, assemble and test systems, and use 3D printers and shop tools to evaluate designs.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to support both low- and high-volume production.
- Work with molded and machined components across a variety of materials.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality, repeatable assembly, delivery, and manufacturing capacity.
- Participate in design reviews, troubleshooting, fault finding, and sustaining engineering activities.
- Work closely with cross-functional engineering and product development teams to rapidly iterate designs.
- Support continuous improvement and engineering excellence initiatives.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in a product development environment.
- Strong experience with SolidWorks or an equivalent 3D CAD platform, including drawings and PDM.
- Experience designing molded and machined parts.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience performing engineering calculations and analyzing test data using Excel, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging mechanical problems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- A proactive, customer-focused, and “can-do” mindset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a hands-on engineering position that combines office-based design work with time spent in a manufacturing environment. Some travel between Galvion facilities may be required, with occasional international travel to Canada.
