Job Description Summary
The Blade Lead Technician plays a pivotal role in supervising GE Vernova blade repair contractor teams and performing repairs at laydown yards, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets during blade repair and inspection operations. This position requires a proactive leader with extensive expertise in blade maintenance, capable of direct intervention in repair or inspection tasks when necessary. The technician must excel in communicating effectively with both GE Vernova team members, blade repair contractors and site team personnel. Responsibilities span across contracted blade repair team oversight, confirming repair quality, problem solving and interface with GE Vernova Service Engineering team, aligning with laydown yard team on necessary crane and blade movement support.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Safety Management:
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, protocols and use of proper PPEs.
- Foster proactive safety actions, such as the submission of concern reports.
- Conduct risk assessments with the team on-site, ensuring awareness of key risks and responses.
- Respond swiftly to safety events, coordinating with GE Vernova functions (EHS, Operations, HR, etc.).
- Quality Assurance:
- Supervise or execute repair procedures to uphold quality standards.
- Verify completion of checklists and adherence to procedures.
- Adjust repair pacing in response to job phases and weather conditions.
- Team Coordination:
- Ensure availability of parts, tooling, materials, procedures, and required PPE for teams.
- Facilitate communication between site teams and GE Vernova functions (EHS, HR, Engineering).
- Manage daily operations and team performance against targets.
- Undertake repair tasks directly if teams are unable to complete them, ensuring project continuity.
- Act in alignment with the Site Manager to ensure cohesive operations and project delivery.
- Customer Communication:
- Serve as the primary contact for repair teams at site, addressing inquiries and providing updates on repair progress in coordination with Site Manager.
- Maintain transparency and timely communication regarding project developments.
- Training and Compliance:
- Maintain current training and certifications equivalent to a regular technician.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of site activities and progress.
- Utilize tools such as Microsoft Office and Smartsheet for effective reporting and coordination.
- Maintain daily communication with the GE Vernova Site and Project Manager to ensure seamless information flow and project alignment.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited university (OR High School Diploma/GED with a minimum 3 years of experience in blade repairs).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in blade repairs.
- Ability and willingness to travel between Pawnee and Garden City laydown yards.
