GE Vernova is an American energy company created in April 2024 when General Electric split into three, taking the power, wind and electrification businesses. It builds and services gas turbines that generate a substantial share of the world's electricity, onshore and offshore wind turbines, grid equipment including transformers and high-voltage transmission, and nuclear technology through GE Hitachi and its BWRX-300 small modular reactor. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the company sits at the centre of two simultaneous demand shocks: the electrification of transport and industry, and the electricity requirements of large-scale artificial intelligence data centres.

Job Description Summary

Do you want to play a key role in the energy transition? Thermal power plants remain essential to grid stability, especially as we integrate increasing amounts of intermittent renewable energy sources.

By joining the GE Vernova Gas Power Controls team, you will become part of an international community of engineers with diverse expertise. You will help design advanced control solutions for our gas turbines, ensuring the reliability, flexibility, and performance required to balance the power grids of the future.

Working in an Agile and Lean environment, you will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle-from design to aftermarket support-while actively contributing to the continuous improvement of our tools, methods, and processes.

GE Vernova Gas Power develops high-performance technologies and services centered on natural gas, as well as decarbonization solutions to support the electrification of a low-carbon future. As leader in gas turbines and power plants, GE Vernova leverages the largest installed base in the Industry.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Grid Code Controls Engineer, you will play a strategic role in ensuring the optimal integration of our power plants into increasingly demanding and complex electrical grids. In this position, you will:

· Design and develop software libraries that enable our turbines to meet grid operator requirements (Grid Codes) and ensure high-performance frequency response.

· Ensure the technical integration of your developments within the global control system, including PLCs, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), electrical cabinets, and automation tools.

· Simulate and validate solutions using advanced simulation platforms and multi-physics modeling tools prior to site commissioning.

· Provide technical support to project, execution, and customer support teams, specifically in the analysis and resolution of complex issues.

· Contribute to continuous improvement by applying Lean principles and optimizing tools, methods, and processes, in alignment with GE Vernova’s standards and values.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

· Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in control systems, ideally within the gas or steam turbine industry, or in a role requiring equivalent technical skills.

· Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· Solid understanding of Grid Code fundamentals: droop control, frequency response, Rate of Change of Frequency (RoCoF), and governor modeling.

· Field experience in commissioning or maintenance is a significant asset.

Desired Characteristics

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working in an international environment.

· Technical leadership skills with the ability to work autonomously and align diverse stakeholders on complex topics.

· Strong analytical mindset, rigorous, and methodical in technical problem-solving.

· Customer-oriented and results-driven, with an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, delivery, andcost.

· A strong drive for continuous improvement and the optimization of work practices.
