GE Vernova is an American energy company created in April 2024 when General Electric split into three, taking the power, wind and electrification businesses. It builds and services gas turbines that generate a substantial share of the world's electricity, onshore and offshore wind turbines, grid equipment including transformers and high-voltage transmission, and nuclear technology through GE Hitachi and its BWRX-300 small modular reactor. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the company sits at the centre of two simultaneous demand shocks: the electrification of transport and industry, and the electricity requirements of large-scale artificial intelligence data centres.

Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Tender Technical Manager to join our HVDC team. In this role you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and managing the technical scope of HVDC product part during the tender phase of an HVDC project. You will be responsible for collaborating with regional teams, solution lines, and customers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality technical proposals that align with cost targets, safety standards, and customer expectations. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of the grid while supporting decarbonization and electrification worldwide.

The successful candidate will own technical activities for the HVDC Solution Line for a particular tender, enabling consistent, scalable, and high-quality execution across regions. This person will also work with colleagues in the SL and Regions to progress and conclude these technical activities in a coordinated and collaborative manner to always ensure the best overall outcome for the business.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own technical activities to develop and maintain the HVDC reference solutions, ensuring consistency, scalability, standardization, and configurability
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering documentation, technical guidelines, toolkits, templates, and deployment methodologies to support efficient and repeatable execution
  • Ensure technical interfaces are correctly identified, managed and verified with the appropriate engineering functions
  • Provide technical support during ITO and OTR phases, ensuring reference solutions are correctly applied and having final approval for technical deviations from the reference solutions
  • Collaborate with the engineering functions and subject matter experts as part of the team completing a DFMEA for the reference solutions, focusing on the system architecture level of each solution
  • Support bid and execution teams with solution framing, technical governance, risk reviews, and deployment guidance for major opportunities and strategic projects
  • Work to incorporate RoE, lessons learned and in-service performance feedback into reference solutions to improve quality, competitiveness, and serviceability
  • Support lifecycle management activities including obsolescence management, installed base support, service opportunity development, and alignment with service and supply chain stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and certification expectations across all regions where HVDC solutions are deployed
  • Support the Solution Delivery Leader in the work planning and prioritization of activities in alignment with business and solution line objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field
  • Experience: Significant experience in engineering roles within EPC environments (T&D, Power Generation, Oil & Gas), with specific expertise in HVDC technology.
  • Leadership: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to inspire teams to meet goals, even in dynamic environments.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, technical problem-solving, manage technical risk, and guide teams through complex engineering decisions.
  • Emerging ability to lead, coach, or coordinate subject matter experts, or similar technical professionals in a people leadership or matrix leadership capacity.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across engineering, product, regional, commercial, and customer teams.
  • Global Mindset: Willingness to travel and work across regions to manage tendering activities worldwide.
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
