Let’s Talk About the Role
As Tendering Team Leader, you will lead a team of four Tender Specialists and shape how customer requirements are turned into accurate, competitive and timely proposals.
You will act as the vital link between Sales and Tendering, ensuring that every new enquiry is clearly understood, prioritised and assigned to the right person. From smaller spare-parts and maintenance requests to complex, multimillion-pound projects, you will guide your team through the full tendering process.
This is a newly strengthened leadership position with direct line-management responsibility. You will contribute to the Stafford local management team and, over time, help extend the team’s tendering support across the wider region, including the Nordics.
------------------------------------------------------------
How You Will Make a Difference
Leading and developing a team of Tender Specialists, creating an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing working environment
Managing the team’s day-to-day workload and resources, balancing competing priorities so proposals are delivered on time and to a high standard
Collaborating closely with Sales to review new customer enquiries, clarify scope and ensure that sufficient technical and commercial information is available to begin preparing an offer
Identifying missing or unclear requirements and working with Sales to obtain the necessary clarification from customers
Allocating new enquiries based on team workload, capability, complexity and business priorities
Monitoring active tenders, identifying potential obstacles and supporting the team in resolving or escalating issues
Overseeing proposals ranging from routine spare-parts and maintenance quotations to complex, high-value projects
Ensuring that offers meet customer requirements and comply with relevant internal quality, governance and review processes
Coordinating with Engineering, Sourcing, Field Services and Project Management to develop complete and competitive customer offers
Supporting the effective handover of successful tenders to the Project Management and execution teams
Driving improvements to tendering processes, increasing quality, accuracy and efficiency across the team
Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the wider region, including supporting future tendering requirements in the Nordics
Contributing as a member of the Stafford local management team
Remaining actively involved in tender preparation and personally managing selected offers once established in the role
------------------------------------------------------------
Skills for Success
You should be a natural people leader with strong commercial awareness and a talent for bringing structure to complex, fast-moving work. You will bring:
Previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating a team, with the ability to coach and develop people at different stages of their careers
The capability to manage workloads, allocate resources and balance multiple priorities and deadlines without losing sight of quality
Experience reviewing and interpreting customer or technical specifications, identifying missing information and coordinating the clarification needed to develop an offer
An understanding of how customer requirements are translated into technical and commercial proposals
Commercial awareness gained within tendering, sales, commercial operations, project management, engineering or another relevant technical-commercial environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working across commercial, technical and operational teams
A proactive and structured approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to challenge incomplete information or competing priorities constructively
A willingness to remain actively involved in tender preparation and personally manage selected offers once established in the role
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification would be beneficial; however, we are equally interested in the knowledge and capability you may have developed through relevant professional experience.
Previous experience in tendering, bid or proposal management would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience within power transmission, energy, utilities, engineering or a related industrial sector would also be beneficial. We welcome applications from candidates whose relevant leadership and commercial experience has been gained in an adjacent industry.
