GEA

GEA is a German engineering group headquartered in Düsseldorf that supplies process technology, machinery and components such as separators, homogenizers, dryers, refrigeration systems and dairy farming equipment to the food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical industries. Founded in 1881 and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, the group employs more than 18,000 people worldwide and has had a US presence since 1929, and its current openings cluster in Oelde, Büchen, Alcobendas and Bogota. It hires field service technicians, project and automation engineers, sales engineers, controllers, procurement leads, SAP consultants, assembly technicians and mechanical designers.
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced electrical project manager with technical expertise to lead electrical design of complex projects, typically lasting 12 to 18 months.

Joining GEA, you will gain a strong network of colleagues from different functions, including our project execution team. We value knowledge sharing and collaborate closely with our customers to ensure tailored solutions that meet their production needs.

Based at our Skanderborg office, you will join our project execution organization. Alongside committed colleagues, you will work in a business driven by customers’ demand for new and better products. We value mutual respect and appreciate our differences.

Internally, you will work with project managers, electrical and automation engineers, process and mechanical engineers, as well as colleagues in Commissioning, Procurement and Service. Externally, you will collaborate with customers, panel suppliers, installation companies, and commissioning subcontractors.

Responsibilities / Tasks

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering electrical scope for projects from concept through commissioning and handover. The role involves managing project scope, budget, schedule, resources, and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.

You will assess technical and delivery options, coordinate supplier actions and implement corrective measures to protect delivery and project profitability. Where changes affect scope, costs or milestones, you will present your recommendations to the Project Manager.

More specifically, you will:

  • Lead and control electrical scope for projects throughout the complete project lifecycle.
  • Plan deliverables, scope activities, milestones and resources in line with the overall project plan.
  • Coordinate electrical designs and equipment specifications, ensuring compliance with legislation, customer requirements, internal engineering standards and project-specific safety and quality requirements.
  • Define supplier and subcontractor packages, support technical bid evaluation and selection, and follow up on specifications, clarifications, delivery, costs and documentation.
  • Prepare site activities, inspections, ensuring the required permits, competencies and safety measures are in place before work starts; coordinate testing and verification, including factory and site acceptance activities where applicable, and close outstanding points.
  • Assess change requests, obtaining approval before committing to changes affecting contractual scope, price, schedule or risk.
  • Complete the documentation and structured handover to the customer and Service, including as-built updates, certificates and test records where applicable.

Your Profile / Qualifications

You are highly organised and excel at maintaining an overview of the entire project lifecycle, identifying potential challenges early and proactively finding effective solutions. Your strong communication skills allow you to mediate between stakeholders, manage change effectively and resolve unforeseen issues as they arise.

We imagine that you:

  • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineer or a related discipline; equivalent technical education with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Have experience in electrical engineering and multidisciplinary project delivery for within food and dairy industries, process equipment, machinery or engineered-to-order projects, including customer-facing technical coordination and management of supplier, subcontractor and procurement deliverables, schedules, costs and risks.
  • Have working knowledge of power distribution, motors and drives, control panels, cabling, protection concepts and associated documentation.
  • Understand technical interfaces, applicable electrical standards and machinery/process-plant safety, alongside installation, testing, commissioning and handover practices.
  • Speak and write English at a full professional level.
