Job Description

General Motors is seeking a Senior Workday Functional Analyst with strong expertise in Workday Core HCM, Personal Information, EIB processing, reference letters, and HR data migration to support and enhance our Workday environment. This role will focus heavily on employee data management, mass data transactions, document generation, data conversion, and maintaining accurate and scalable Workday configurations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Personal Information and Contact Information processes, developing and processing EIBs, configuring reference letters and related documents, and supporting large-scale data migration and data validation activities. This role will partner closely with HR, Payroll, Recruiting, Compensation, and IT teams to deliver projects, enhancements, production support, and data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and enhance Workday Core HCM, with a strong focus on Personal Information, Contact Information, Staffing, Jobs & Positions, and employee data management.
  • Configure and support Personal Information Business Processes, including routing, approvals, validations, condition rules, notifications, security, and related employee self-service functionality.
  • Create, test, process, and troubleshoot Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) files for high-volume and mass business transactions.
  • Manage inbound EIB processing, including data preparation, transformation, validation, error resolution, reconciliation, and post-load verification.
  • Support HR data migration and conversion activities, including data extraction, cleansing, mapping, transformation, loading, reconciliation, and validation between legacy systems and Workday.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to define data mapping and conversion requirements and ensure migrated data meets Workday configuration and business requirements.
  • Configure and maintain reference letters, employment letters, document templates, and other employee-related Workday documents, including dynamic fields, calculated fields, conditional content, and business process integration.
  • Perform mass updates and data corrections using appropriate Workday tools while maintaining strong data quality, integrity, and audit controls.
  • Analyze and resolve EIB errors, data discrepancies, validation failures, and other complex Workday data issues.
  • Configure and maintain Workday Business Processes, including BP routing, approvals, condition rules, notifications, validations, questionnaires, documents, and Business Process Security Policies.
  • Support Workday production issues and serve as a Tier escalation contact for complex Core HCM, Personal Information, EIB, document, and data-related issues.
  • Develop and utilize Workday reports and calculated fields to support data validation, reconciliation, migration, troubleshooting, and business requirements.
  • Support testing activities, including unit testing, regression testing, data validation, and end-to-end testing for Workday enhancements and data loads.
  • Review automatically available functionality delivered through Workday R1/R2 releases, assess business impact, and support regression testing.
  • Review and disposition setup-required functionality delivered through Workday releases and coordinate appropriate configuration changes.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, document solutions, and implement scalable system and data improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with HR leaders, IT professionals, functional teams, and end users.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Workday functional experience, preferably supporting Workday Core HCM in a large enterprise environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Workday Personal Information and Contact Information configuration and Business Processes.
  • Demonstrated experience creating, processing, troubleshooting, and validating Workday EIBs for mass data transactions.
  • Strong experience with HR data migration, data conversion, data mapping, cleansing, transformation, reconciliation, and validation.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining reference letters, employment letters, document templates, and other Workday-generated documents.
  • Strong knowledge of Workday Core HCM and the Workday Business Process Framework.
  • Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, security, and Business Process Security Policies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex configuration, data, EIB, and Business Process issues.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, data governance, and HR data management best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, production issues, enhancement requests, and data initiatives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Workday configuration deployment and migration tools, including Tenant Compare, Configuration Change Tracker/Extracts, and Object Transporter (OX).

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale Workday implementations, acquisitions, reorganizations, or HR data migration/conversion projects.
  • Exposure to Compensation, Recruiting, Absence, Benefits, and/or Payroll.
  • Experience working in Agile or large enterprise HRIS environments.
  • Workday certification in Core HCM and/or other relevant Workday modules.
