Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

This position works in partnership with the Practice Plan, Finance, the Clinical Research Division, the Medical Staff Office and external colleagues to support Practice Plan finances and data reporting. TheFinancial Analyst II is responsible for working with the Practice Plan Administrator to ensure accurate and appropriate oversight of clinical finances and data reporting.

This is hybrid position with two day requirement on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Practice Plan Administrator in the development, administration, and monitoring of annual practice plan budgets across Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, University of Washington, Seattle Children's Hospital, University of Washington Physicians, and Children's University Medical Group.
  • Assist with year-end financial reconciliation processes, ensuring accurate allocation of revenues, expenses, and physician compensation distributions.
  • Monitor financial performance throughout the fiscal year, identify budget variances, perform reconciliations, and provide recommendations to support sound fiscal management.
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly invoicing and related financial transactions for clinical services, provider support, and inter-organizational agreements.
  • Administer reimbursement processes for designated programs, providers, and operational expenses in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the Practice Plan Administrator to conduct financial analyses, forecasting, and modeling that inform strategic and operational decision-making for Fred Hutch's clinical practice.
  • Develop and maintain recurring and ad hoc clinical, operational, and financial reports to support physician compensation programs, practice management, and executive leadership.
  • Create and maintain performance dashboards and analytics for physician incentive and compensation plans, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative stakeholders to support physician and advanced practice provider onboarding, offboarding, and workforce transitions.
  • Lead and support initiatives that strengthen the Fred Hutch and University of Washington affiliation, enhance operational effectiveness, and advance the financial sustainability of the clinical enterprise.
  • Develop expertise in institutional financial, clinical, and operational systems and design reports, tools, and analyses that meet the evolving needs of division leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed financial performance reviews, budget forecasting, and trend analyses for assigned clinical programs, projects, and strategic initiatives.
  • Cross-train and collaborate with Practice Plan and Administrative Management teams to ensure continuity of operations, including provider scheduling, moonlighting compensation administration, continuing medical education
  • (CME) allotment tracking and reconciliation, and other core practice management functions.
  • Serve as a key resource for practice plan operations, supporting the intersection of clinical care, academic medicine, and research through effective financial stewardship, data-driven decision support, and collaborative partnership across affiliated organizations.
  • Perform other analysis and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or a related field OR equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in accounting or finance, preferable in a research or not-for-profit environment.
  • Working knowledge of financial information and related operational statistics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to understand complex problems, to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.
  • Ability to organize data and finances into understandable terminology for stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and proactively communicate status of projects to key decision makers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting, budgeting and reconciliation.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,475 to $120,682, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
