Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant in Bulgaria owns the accounting function for GeoWealth Development Bulgaria EOOD, GeoWealth's Sofia-based subsidiary, and is the company's primary hands-on accounting resource in Bulgaria.

This role owns Bulgarian statutory accounting and US GAAP reporting for consolidation into the U.S. parent, leads the local side of the company's migration from its current accounting system to NetSuite, and builds the internal controls needed to support GeoWealth's broader SOC 2 compliance program. The role works directly with U.S. finance leadership rather than through outsourced bookkeeping, and requires fluent English communication with the Chicago-based team.

Key Responsibilities

Bulgarian Statutory & US GAAP Accounting

· Own day-to-day bookkeeping and Bulgarian statutory accounting for GeoWealth Development Bulgaria EOOD, including monthly close, VAT, and statutory filings coordination with local advisors

· Prepare and reconcile EUR financials under both Bulgarian accounting standards and US GAAP so they consolidate cleanly into the U.S. parent

· Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and EUR/USD currency translation entries in line with ASC 830

NetSuite Migration & Systems

· Lead the Bulgaria-side migration from the current accounting system to NetSuite, including data mapping, testing, and post-go-live process design

· Serve as the Sofia-based point of contact for NetSuite implementation questions specific to the Bulgaria entity

Internal Controls & Compliance

· Design and document internal controls for the Bulgaria entity to support the company's SOC 2 compliance program

· Ensure compliance with Bulgarian tax, VAT, and payroll/statutory reporting requirements, coordinating with local advisors as needed

Cross-Border Collaboration

· Partner directly with the U.S. finance team on month-end close, external audit support, and multi-entity consolidation

· Serve as the primary Sofia-based liaison for U.S. finance leadership, escalating issues and communicating status clearly in English

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

· 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in Bulgaria, with solid command of Bulgarian statutory accounting requirements

· Working knowledge of US GAAP, ideally from prior experience supporting a US parent company or dual-reporting environment

· Fluent written and spoken English

· Demonstrated internal-controls or process-discipline orientation, not just transactional bookkeeping

· Experience with month-end close and multi-currency reconciliations

· Comfortable working independently as the sole Bulgaria-based accounting resource, with strong follow-through

· Experience with NetSuite, either as an end user or through a prior ERP implementation/migration, preferred

· Experience supporting a U.S.-parent / EU-subsidiary consolidation structure preferred

· ACCA, CPA, or Bulgarian chartered accountant credential preferred

· Background in financial services, asset management, or a professional services firm serving those industries preferred
