Job Description

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the financial reporting of all legal entities/branch offices in China. Maintain robust country-level accounting in compliance with Controller’s manual, local statutory and US GAAP reporting requirements, and law and regulation requirements.
  • Ensure the statistics and statutory reporting are being performed in a standard way with high quality; design and review workflow for constant improvements on the processes.
  • Review the revenue (gross to net) reporting and support distributor management
  • Lead China Controllership team (PTP/RTR/GTN/etc.) at operation level to deliver work with accuracy and efficiency. Develop people with enterprise mindset. This position has to work closely with Corporate Tax and Treasury on the tax and treasury matters.
  • Develop great business understanding to ensure full alignment between business and controllership requirements.
  • Effectively engaging with stakeholders internally, such FSS team, controllership team, and stakeholders externally, such as tax adviser, auditing firms and tax/ finance authorities.
  • Lead IPE review and take initiatives in other financial projects, such SAP implementation.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • BA or BS degree in accounting or equivalent with a CPA or similar accounting qualification. Extensive relevant experience and substantial supervisory experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of accounting and finance, tax and treasury including technical aspects of US GAAP, China GAAP, local statutory reporting requirement.
  • Proven capability to build and lead high-performing teams. Must have lead the function in expansive business, recruiting, developing, retaining high-performing Finance and Accounting professionals, and establishing robust systems and procedures.
  • 10+ years experience in Big 4/MNC of life sciences, healthcare, biotech would be an advantage; exposure to US/corporate environments is a must.
  • An in-depth knowledge of SAP system and proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Chinese and English.
  • Highly adaptable and able to work effectively in a matrix organization, evolving environment and dynamic organization.
  • Detail oriented with sense of the ‘bigger picture’, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, self driven with high levels of integrity, excellence and teamwork
  • Effective communication, able to deliver complex messages to various internal and external customers
  • Strong project and process management skills. Efficiency and time management skills, multi-task handling.
  • A result oriented individual, with a strong work ethic with a positive, "can-do" attitude.
  • Effectively manages people & encourages them to seek development opportunities, ensuring their development plans meet both individual & Gilead’s requirements & expectations.
