Position Overview :
This is a founding seat on the company's Platform Pod - a greenfield infrastructure team with a P0 mandate. As the Data Infrastructure SME, you will own the entire database estate: performance, replication, backup/DR, capacity, and cost across high-throughput transactional systems underpinning payments, identity, e-sign, and compliance products. You will also define the data-layer standards and self-serve tooling that product teams across a ~40-engineer organisation depend on.
What Youll Own :
- Own production database infrastructure across performance, replication, backup/DR, upgrades, capacity and cost.
- Drive schema, query and migration best practices across engineering teams.
- Work deeply with MySQL/PostgreSQL internals and distributed SQL/NoSQL systems at scale.
- Design and automate database provisioning, lifecycle management, recovery and upgrades.
- Lead large-scale production migrations with minimal downtime and zero data loss.
- Build database capabilities for customer-controlled/on-prem environments, where hands-on access may be limited.
- Partner with engineering teams to build self-service tooling, guardrails and future DBaaS capabilities.
What Were Looking For :
- 5+ years of deep hands-on production database ownership.
- Internals-level expertise in PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience with distributed SQL/NoSQL databases at scale.
- Proven experience with database automation, self-service tooling or DBaaS/platform engineering.
- Track record of successfully executing critical production database migrations.
- Strong understanding of HA, replication, DR, performance tuning and capacity planning.
Bonus Points :
- Experience with TiDB / CockroachDB / YugabyteDB, Kubernetes/Terraform, or banking, payments, fintech and other transaction-critical systems.
