Join us in developing communication systems for demanding environments
At FalCom, part of GN, we develop advanced hearing protection, communication and connectivity solutions for special operations, military, law enforcement and security personnel operating in demanding environments.
We deliver complete customer systems - not just individual components. Our solutions combine headsets, radios, intercom systems, cables, configurations and software to enable reliable communication while maintaining high-quality hearing protection and situational awareness.
We are looking for a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to join our team at our global headquarters in Ballerup, Denmark.
The team you will be part of
You will join a pioneering and highly specialised team within FalCom, built on GN’s foundation as a global leader in intelligent audio solutions.
You will work closely with colleagues across R&D, Customer Success, Sales, Product Management and Operations. The team includes specialists within software, audio, configurations, system integration and prototype development. We are international, collaborative, practical and passionate about solving complex customer challenges.
You will report to Senior Manager Audio Engineering, Jens Kirkelund
Your role
As a Field Application Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing FalCom’s products together into reliable customer solutions.
You will work hands-on with prototype communication and connectivity systems, including tactical radios, intercom systems, headsets, data devices, configurations and cables. Your work will take place both at our facilities in Ballerup and, when needed, in customer environments.
You will act as an important link between customer needs, system integration and R&D development.
Your key responsibilities
Design, integrate and validate prototype analogue and digital communication systems.
Configure and test complete customer system setups involving radios, intercoms, headsets, cables and data devices.
Develop and maintain connection documentation, including wiring tables, pinouts and system diagrams.
Adjust, verify and optimise audio settings and configuration profiles using FalCom software tools.
Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across hardware, software, audio and connectivity interfaces.
Support field tests, customer demonstrations and technical trials.
Document system setups, test results, configuration files, known limitations and handover information.
Work closely with R&D teams to ensure that customer learnings are translated into robust and scalable product solutions.
Support the transition of successful prototype solutions towards production-ready deliveries.
To succeed in the role, we imagine that you have
Must have
A relevant technical background, for example as an Engineer in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Embedded Systems, an Electronics/Electrical Technician, or similar.
At least 3 years of experience with system integration, bringing together complex hardware and software elements into working solutions.
Ability to read and create electrical documentation, including wiring tables, pinouts, simple schematics and more complex electrical diagrams.
Experience with laboratory work and troubleshooting using relevant equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and USB analysers.
Understanding of signal paths and the ability to adjust and validate audio profiles or audio-related software settings.
Ability to manage several tasks or projects in parallel while maintaining structure and quality.
Strong communication skills and confidence in collaborating with customers and multiple internal stakeholders.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
The role includes travel activity - expected to be approximately 25 days per year - for customer visits, field testing and technical support.
Who you are
You are structured, detail-oriented, and systematic in your approach to solving technical problems. You enjoy practical, hands-on work, but you also understand the importance of documentation, traceability and clear communication.
You thrive with a high degree of autonomy and take ownership of your tasks from initial customer need through system setup, testing and handover. At the same time, you are a strong team player who knows when to involve the right technical specialists.
What we offer
This is an opportunity to work with advanced products and customer solutions in a highly specialized field. You will have significant autonomy, opportunities to develop your technical and system-level competencies, and the chance to work with leading communication and hearing-protection solutions.
You will join a supportive, collaborative and inclusive team where practical problem-solving, technical quality and customer value go hand in hand.
We encourage you to apply
Even if you don’t match all the above-mentioned skills, we welcome your application if you think you have transferable skills. We highly value a mindset and motivation that align with our core values, to not only ensure growth for you, but for your team and the wider GN organization as well.
We are focused on an inclusive recruitment process
All applicants will receive equal consideration for employment. As such, we encourage you to submit your CV without a photo to ensure an equal and fair application process.
